We are seeking a versatile protein engineer to join our Protein Engineering Group in Cambridge, MA in a lab-facing role. The ideal candidate is a scientific innovator with experience in antibody therapeutic engineering and optimization with a deep understanding of protein structure. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategy of biotherapeutic design and utilize their hands-on experiences to drive the successful implementation of these designs in multidisciplinary project teams. This protein engineer will contribute to the production and characterization of multispecific therapeutics through collaborations with the broader Discovery Biotherapeutic community at BMS. This is an ideal position for a protein engineer who is enthusiastic about developing creative solutions to design and optimize a wide range of protein therapeutic modalities for the treatment of diverse diseases.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of academic / industry experience

Or

Master's Degree with 3+ years of academic / industry experience

Or

PhD in Biology with 0-2 years of academic / industry experience

Desired Skills and Experiences

PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field

Deep understanding of protein structure and function relationships

Experience engineering antibody-based therapeutics to improve attributes such as activity, yield, immunogenicity, and developability

Experience with high-throughput methods of cloning, production, and characterization (SDS-PAGE, SEC-MALS, MS, BLI/SPR, mass photometry) of proteins

Familiar with generating and applying computational predictions and structural analysis in drug discovery projects (e.g. Schrodinger, MOE, and/or Rosetta)

Diverse hands-on experiences including protein expression and purification

Must be highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organized

Excellent written and verbal presentation skills as evidenced by external publications and presentations

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $128,420 - $155,600, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
