Scientist - Bioinformatics

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a Scientist – Bioinformatics to join our team in Boston, MA. Come join the rapidly expanding Lilly Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome editing reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene editing to patients around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of on-target and off-target data.
  • Visualize genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of scientists to design and execute experiments, integrate computational methods into development projects, and provide data-driven insights.
  • Assist in the organization, management, and maintenance of data to ensure its integrity.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in computational biology and genomics to implement best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in scientific field with 7+ years of relevant work experience or Masters degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Proficiency in NGS data handling, pipeline building/analysis.
  • Proven experience in genomic data analysis and drug development.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work and code.
  • Expert in Python or R.
  • Experience with Linux HPC, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Experience with containers (e.g., Docker) and workflow software (e.g., Nextflow, WDL, Snakemake).
  • Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (e.g., Benchling)

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$70,500 - $200,200

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
