Job Summary

GoodPower is seeking a Salesforce Administrator who will be an essential part of the Product Engineering and Data Team. This person will support the ongoing administration and improvement of our CRM platform (Salesforce) and serve as the bridge between the teams who use Salesforce and the people who build it. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality and has experience with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).The Salesforce Administrator (the "Administrator") will work across teams, including Development (fundraising), Campaigns, and Advocacy. The Administrator will translate the business processes those teams define into clear system requirements, then deliver them: building routine configuration directly, and scoping, coordinating, and testing larger work delivered by contractors and implementation partners. The Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance, and improvement of GoodPower's Salesforce environment. As a member of the Data team, the Administrator will also focus on data hygiene and integrations with other systems. This role is the Data team's day-to-day counterpart to the Development team's Director, Development Operations & Systems. The Director defines what Development needs from Salesforce. The Administrator turns those needs into requirements and system changes, and is accountable for making sure what gets built works as specified. Technical skill is only half of this role. The Administrator is the person staff turn to when they need Salesforce explained, and is expected to lead: running trainings, championing good data practices, and making sure what the Data team builds is understood and used across the organization. We're looking for someone who can explain a data model to a fundraiser as clearly as they can explain a fundraising workflow to a developer. This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates must be willing to work a consistent 8-hour day, during a slot of their choosing, between 9am and 8pm Eastern Time. The Administrator will work from home, meet with teams by video as needed, and join weekly online all-staff meetings. Occasional travel is required for relevant events, staff retreats, and other convenings. The Administrator reports to the Data Director.

Division of Responsibilities for Salesforce

Salesforce is shared infrastructure. Ownership is split by design so that every decision has one clear owner:

  • Development owns the what: fundraising requirements, moves management stages and workflows, data entry standards, the reports and dashboards leadership needs, and team adoption.
  • The Data team owns the how: platform administration, the data model, automations, permissions, integrations, and data consistency across systems.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce Administration & Data Management

  • Serve as Salesforce system administrator and handle day-to-day configuration, including user account maintenance, roles and profiles, custom objects and fields, flows and automations, Lightning email templates, and Lightning page layouts.
  • Complete regular internal system audits and prepare for upgrades.
  • Maintain data quality across Salesforce and related systems: build validation and duplicate rules, run bulk updates, cleanup, and deduplication, and perform routine quality checks.
  • Build and maintain the reports and dashboards that leadership and teams rely on, to requirements those teams define.
  • Support data imports, exports, reporting requests, and investigation of data discrepancies.
  • Provide day-to-day Salesforce user administration and support, including routine access, permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, system how-to guides, and other support documentation.

Training, Adoption & Communication

  • Design and deliver Salesforce training for staff at every level of technical comfort, from onboarding new users to rolling out new features, through live sessions, recorded walkthroughs, and written guides.
  • Drive adoption of Salesforce across teams: track how the system is being used, notice where people are working around it, and partner with team leads to close the gaps.
  • Announce and explain system changes in plain language: what's changing, why, and what users need to do differently.
  • Champion data quality by helping staff understand why good data entry matters to fundraising results, not just how to do it.
  • Hold regular office hours where staff can bring questions, frustrations, and ideas, and turn recurring pain points into backlog items.

Requirements, Delivery & Contractor Coordination

  • Serve as the Data team's day-to-day point of contact for Development systems leadership and other stakeholder teams: take in requests, clarify needs, and translate them into written requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain the Salesforce enhancement backlog and work with stakeholders and Data team leadership to prioritize it.
  • Complete routine configuration directly. For larger work, such as custom development, integrations, and data pipelines:
    • scope the work for contractors and implementation partners,
    • coordinate delivery,
    • test it against acceptance criteria before release,
    • escalate code-level and architectural review to senior Data team engineers.
  • Monitor the health of integrations between Salesforce and connected systems including: Engaging Networks, GCP, BigQuery, Cloudingo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Reporting tools - Data Studio, Atlassian, n8n. Serve as first responder when a sync fails, and scope the fix.
  • Bring proposed changes to the business owner for sign-off before release, and communicate changes to affected users.
  • Document all configuration and integrations so system knowledge stays in-house, regardless of who built it.

Support GoodPower's Fundraising CRM Needs

  • Configure and maintain the Salesforce tools that support cultivation, stewardship, moves management, and progress-to-goal tracking, built to the stages and workflows Development defines.
  • Build and maintain automations and forms for donation acknowledgments and revenue tracking, to requirements set by Development and Finance.
  • Help ensure the Salesforce data model supports nonprofit fundraising and grant tracking workflows as Development defines them.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience with Salesforce and standard CRM data operations in a nonprofit fundraising context, including:
    • strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality;
    • experience making Salesforce configuration changes, including fields, page layouts, flows and automation, and reports and dashboards;
    • proven ability to support the implementation of new processes and help users adopt them;
    • experience translating stakeholder needs into written requirements, user stories, or specifications, and working with developers, consultants, or contractors to deliver and test them.
  • Working knowledge of how systems exchange data (APIs, integrations, imports and exports) and how integration failures show up.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and project tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Comfort working with structured data, spreadsheets, reports, and data quality processes, with strong attention to detail and data hygiene.
  • A self-starter with an analytical mindset and a demonstrated ability to:
    • troubleshoot challenges with patience and creativity;
    • adapt as needed to take on additional roles, responsibilities, and opportunities;
    • manage multiple workstreams with thoroughness, accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of explaining technical concepts to non-technical colleagues in clear, jargon-free language, both in writing and in person.
  • Experience designing and leading trainings, workshops, or onboarding for users with a wide range of technical comfort.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by building trust across teams, influencing how colleagues work, and driving adoption of new tools or processes.
  • Patience, empathy, and a service mindset toward colleagues who find technology frustrating or intimidating.
  • Comfort presenting to senior leadership as well as frontline staff.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising, donor management, grant and revenue tracking, and/or development operations.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification, or progress toward it, is strongly preferred.
