Designed to address the needs of today's businesses as they prepare for the future, NuoDB's elastic SQL database combines the scale-out simplicity, elasticity, and continuous availability that cloud applications require, with the transactional consistency and durability that databases of record demand. Conceived by database innovator Jim Starkey, NuoDB is backed by three former CEOs of the four original relational database companies.

Position Overview:

NuoDB is looking for a director of demand generation to take on full responsibility for all aspects of demand generation – defining, creating, executing and measuring integrated marketing campaigns using a variety of program types and channels. As a key member of the marketing senior staff you will also help shape and guide the overall marketing and go to market strategy for NuoDB, and work closely with sales and sales leadership on the complete path to purchase experience.

You will research and determine the most appropriate means to generate awareness and interest among our target buyers: senior product development and IT leaders at independent software vendors and software development organizations. You will then craft and run campaigns across traditional, digital, social, major and regional events, account based marketing, and inbound channels.

You will work with marketing automation, sales force automation, and demand generation tools to regularly monitor and measure program effectiveness, and report on this to the executive leadership team.

Partnering with the business development, and inside and outside sales teams, you will ensure close alignment between sales and marketing to increase demand program effectiveness, and overall revenue attainment.

This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and is based in Cambridge, MA, with some travel expected.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Demand generation strategy: define overall demand generation strategy, including funnel targets and budget.
  • Program execution: develop and execute high impact campaigns to generate interest and lead to high quality sales opportunities.
  • Event execution: define the overall event strategy, and run all aspects of NuoDB’s participation in major and local events.
  • Content: collaborate with product marketing and other internal stakeholders to build high quality campaign content.
  • Operations: manage the marketing automation platform (Marketo) and associated tools, including integration with sales force automation platform (Salesforce.com)
  • Measurement: continually measure, analyze, and report on programs across a variety of metrics, including leads, opportunities, cost per lead, etc.

Required skills & experience:

  • 5-7 years of enterprise software demand generation experience.
  • Experience across breadth of demand generation mix: inbound, digital, social, events, account based marketing, etc.
  • Highly creative – ability to think outside the box to find new ways to generate interest and excitement among our target prospects.
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to measure, analyze, understand and present data to measure program effectiveness and validate strategy and spend.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • CRM (Salesforce.com) and marketing automation (Marketo) experience.
  • Willing to travel up to 20%.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical staff, customers, and partners.
  • Startup experience – and the ability to operate in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in a marketing or business domain.
