Strategy & Operations Associate

The New Ventures team is imagining the future of TripAdvisor by considering long-term trends in consumer behavior, technology, and competitive dynamics. The team is responsible for researching, building, piloting, and growing the new products for the company. It is also be responsible for enhancing the culture of innovation at TripAdvisor.
The Business Development Associate role will be focused on launching and growing new products, which will include conducting primary and secondary research; assisting with the development of business plans and financial models; directly contacting prospective clients, suppliers, and partners; helping to manage key relationships (internally and externally); partnering with product management teams to influence product roadmaps; and managing miscellaneous projects.
This role is multifaceted and — given the fast-paced, versatile nature of the New Ventures team — will evolve over time. The ideal candidate will have broad interest in business topics (especially “startups”), a strong bias toward action, excellent interpersonal skills, and comfort with ambiguity, change, and risk. At the same time, the candidate should expect to receive a high level of support and mentorship from New Ventures leadership.
What You’ll Do:
Contribute to new product ideation
Conduct research (e.g., customer interviews, competitive analysis)
Assist in developing business cases, financial analyses, and go-to-market strategies
Assist in developing product marketing and sales plans
Identify and contact potential clients, suppliers, and partners
Assist in creating plans for scaling and “growth hacking” successful products
Assist in stakeholder management and reporting
What We’re Looking For:
2-3 years of professional experience in a business environment; experience at a top-tier investment bank, consulting firm, or technology company is a plus
Interest in innovation, early-stage ventures, technology, and travel
Strong business knowledge and/or interest in business
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the willingness to “cold call” prospective clients, suppliers, and partners to develop business relationships
Action-oriented individual who is willing to help solve difficult problems
Team player who can collaborate with teams across the TripAdvisor organization
Curiosity and willingness to learn
BS/BA required
