We are looking for a Sales Engineer - Process Heat Exchangers who shall have responsibility and accountability for sales of High-Efficiency Welded and Plate & Frame Heat Exchangers to Direct Customer accounts. Target customer segments include Mining & Minerals, Clean Power, Renewable Chemicals and Pulp & Paper. Target customer types include major Corporations and Producers across Canada, as well as Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Companies, with particular focus on Projects in mineral processing and in the battery value chain.

The primary focus of this role is to hunt for opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of existing processes and present value-add solutions with Alfa Laval’s portfolio of heat exchangers. The role also involves proposing Alfa Laval’s high-efficiency heat exchangers as upgrade or replacement to other heat exchanger technologies (Shell and Tube), as well as replace older Alfa Laval equipment and competitor heat exchangers.

Duties of the role:

  • Drive profitable sales growth in the assigned industry areas, with particular attention to developing business areas of high potential.
  • Prospect and identify new customers and business opportunities in the assigned industry areas, with a focus on building strong relationships as a trusted partner.
  • Interact frequently with customers, online and in person, to promote the real-life benefits of Alfa Laval’s technology, branded features for our targeted products and solutions, and provide excellent customer experience.
  • Act as the local ambassador and champion for the launch of new products in the industry segments.
  • Assist the other members of the Energy Process Heat Exchangers team in a supporting or backup role as needed.
  • Frequent travel in the primary business area is required, with occasional travel elsewhere in Canada or internationally as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED

Education and Certification:

  • Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist diploma.  Preference (though not mandatory) for Mechanical or Chemical disciplines.

Type and Length of Experience:

  • 3 to 10 years post-education in the targeted industry segments.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:

  • Self-starter, self-initiates sales plan for prospects and customers.
  • “Hunter” mentality with ability to prospect and identify leads, and convert these leads into business opportunities.
  • Insights and experience in common unit operations, and customer values in given segments.
  • Creation and Follow-through of the Business Plan to drive success in the assigned industry segment.
  • Communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, both with customers and with team members in various roles.
  • Ability to be collaborative within the Alfa Laval local and global team
  • Knowledge of heat transfer products and applications in the targeted segments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (i.e., travel, motor vehicle use, etc.)

  • Travel 40-50% for prospecting and on customer requests, primarily within Canada.  Occasional travel internationally required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in home province (car/passenger vehicle only), and the ability to travel by airplane.
  • Must be able to be certified for H2S Alive and other safety-related certifications for customer site access.

Compensation & Total Rewards
The salary range for this role is $80,000– $115,000 CAD annually, based on experience and role alignment. In addition to base compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth and development.

Bonus Opportunity

This position is eligible for a target bonus of up to 25% of annual base salary depending on experience, awarded based on the achievement of company performance metrics. Actual bonus amounts are contingent on annual business results and may vary accordingly.
