What We're Researching

We are running a paid study on outbound sales strategies for digital services targeting small businesses. Help us evaluate the effectiveness of a targeted, one-time source code offer for pre-built websites. Your real-world call attempt will provide valuable data on pitch reception and checkout conversions.

How It Works

You will review a provided brief and conduct a single outbound call to a business owner. During the call, you will show them a live preview of a website built for their business and explain a one-time offer. You will direct them to a checkout page if they are interested, and then log the detailed outcome of the conversation. The entire task must be completed within 30 minutes of acceptance during local business hours.

Who This Is For

We are hiring experienced outbound salespeople and Sales Development Representatives. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of selling websites, marketing, or digital services to US-based small businesses. We welcome SDRs, Account Executives, and freelance sales professionals with strong English communication skills.

What You'll Do
  • Review a supplied brief containing business details and the live website preview.

  • Place an outbound phone call to the designated business owner during local business hours.

  • Pitch a one-time offer and direct interested prospects to a checkout link.

  • Record and submit an accurate log of the call outcome.

Who Should Apply
  • Experienced outbound salesperson or Sales Development Representative.

  • Prior experience selling websites or digital services to US small businesses.

  • Fluent English speaker comfortable placing live phone calls.

  • Ability to complete the assigned call within 30 minutes of acceptance.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
