Location: 100% On-Site in our Flatiron NYC office

Position Type: Salary, Full Time + Commission

Experience Level: Entry Level

Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 On Target Earnings

About the Role

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR)—also known as a Business Development Representative (BDR)—you’ll be responsible for developing a qualified pipeline of prospects for our Account Executives, focusing on venture-backed startups. You’ll research accounts, use multiple channels to outbound, and book meetings that convert into real opportunities.

You’ll be customer-focused and will develop a deep understanding of the startup and venture capital ecosystem, including accelerators and investors.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate pipeline through thoughtful outbound (phone, email, LinkedIn) to targeted accounts and buyer personas.
  • Own a book of accounts and plan outreach strategies that raise awareness and drive discovery meetings for AEs.
  • Run structured, multi‑touch sequences; test subject lines, messaging, call talk tracks, and hooks to increase reply and meeting rates.
  • Research deeply: map org charts, understand triggers (audits, enterprise deals, security reviews), and personalize outreach to compliance and security pains.
  • Use modern sales tools to prioritize, engage, and track performance.
  • Capture clean CRM data and book meetings on AE calendars; follow through on handoffs to ensure high show and conversion rates.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, communications, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in sales or a sales-related role, ideally within a venture-backed startup environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and enthusiasm for the startup and venture capital ecosystem, with a strong desire to contribute to its growth.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability team environment.
  • A proactive self-starter who takes initiative, asks thoughtful questions, and documents learnings to continuously improve.
  • Genuine passion for startups, accelerators, and venture capital, with a drive to stay informed and engaged in the ecosystem.

This Role May Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Are eager to build a long-term career in technology sales and thrive in a client-facing environment.
  • Have a strong personal interest in startups, venture capital, and the innovation ecosystem.
  • Are driven, ambitious, and excited to learn and grow within a high-performance team.
  • Excel in competitive, in-person settings and want to be part of a culture that pushes for excellence.

What We Offer:

  • 10 PTO days + 11 paid federal holidays
  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • Monthly healthcare stipend
  • Gym membership stipend
  • Frequent team lunches, events, and career coaching
  • Fast-paced environment with real ownership from Day 1

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You:

  • Require a strict 9-to-5 work structure.
  • Are uncomfortable in fast-moving environments with shifting priorities.
  • Prefer work that is not client-facing or process-driven.
  • Do not share a strong passion for startups, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
