We are seeking an experienced, passionate sales account manager to build and drive growth for Elegen’s transformative synthetic DNA products.  You will be accountable for using your knowledge of Elegen’s offerings, competitor products, and the broader synthetic DNA market to develop and manage key relationships that result in the achievement of sales targets. Ideally, the candidate will be based on the US East Coast. The position will report to the SVP of Sales.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive Sales Targets: Use proactive account research, lead generation, engagement, and relationship management techniques to consistently meet personal and team sales goals.
  • Uncover Opportunities: Analyze customer needs to proactively identify new product possibilities, including those enabled by Elegen technology.
  • Expand Client Database: Actively maintain and expand the client database within your assigned territory.
  • Strategically Focus on Key Accounts: Direct attention towards key accounts with the capability to generate consistent volumes of business.
  • Optimize Customer Success: Ensure customer success and strategically optimize the customer journey at Elegen.
  • Provide Insightful Sales Input: Regularly contribute valuable insights to management on sales budgets, forecasting, and effective sales strategies/models.
  • Stay Informed: Attend meetings, sales events, and training sessions to remain abreast of the latest developments in the industry.
  • Coordinate Customer Site Visits: Accelerate sales growth by visiting customer sites as needed to actively support and contribute to incremental business growth.

Essential Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in the life sciences or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of proven sales experience; track record of achieving quotas on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Strong working knowledge of synthetic DNA, how it is used across the biotech industry, and the players in this market.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to set relevant goals and execute in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • A self-starter eager to be part of building a sales organization that will scale and grow.
  • An ability to foster teamwork across the growing sales and marketing team.

  • A network of industry contacts that align with Elegen's target markets
  • Experience in a startup environment

Salary and Benefits:

The annual base salary compensation for this role, if based in California is: $120,000 - $150,000. Compensation may be different in other locations.  Final compensation also includes bonus, equity and benefits.   Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location.
