Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a ROS 2 based Robotic Simulation pipeline for Controller Design.
- Create representative case study to understand solution capabilities and limitations.
- Create, modify, and implement the software packages to a practical application.
- Develop evaluation criteria to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the systems.
- Support Robotic controllers testing on real robots
- Present technical results and provide recommendations based on the case study.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of Control Theory and implementing Control algorithms for Robotic Manipulation tasks.
- Prior developing experience in ROS 2.
- Prior experience in working with ROS 2 Control, ROS messages and Control Plugins.
- Ability to understand and use Collision Physics and Dynamics for contact rich manipulation.
- Prior experience or ability to make proper use of physics model of the simulation tool for contact-based manipulation tasks.
- Excellent coding and scripting abilities in Python, C++ and ROS 2.
- Prior experience in one of the simulation tools: Webots, Mujoco, Drake,CopelliaSim,NVIDIA Issac Sim, Gazebo.
- Good understanding of Robotics fundamentals.
- Curious, Team Player and ability to thrive in collaborative, small team environment.
Education / Experience
- Current Graduate student preferably in a MS or PhD program focused on Robotics, Controls and Motion Planning for manipulator robots
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office (Holly, MI) environment, able to conduct a normal amount of work at a computer.
