About this role:
Pickle is seeking a hands-on and versatile Robotics Systems Engineer to help shape the next generation of our robotic unloading systems. This role is ideal for someone who brings a strong technical foundation across robotic disciplines and enjoys working across hardware and software to help early-stage systems mature. You’ll support software development and system integration efforts, contribute to design analysis, help define and refine requirements to support taking ideas from concept to production. Success in this role means being comfortable navigating ambiguity, collaborating across hardware and software teams, and digging into technical challenges wherever they arise. If you're a generalist at heart who’s eager to help real robots succeed in messy real-world environments, we’d love to talk.

What You’ll Accomplish:

  • Contribute to the development and integration of key robotic subsystems by supporting software, hardware, and systems-level efforts.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to define and refine requirements that guide the transition from prototype to production.
  • Help characterize system performance and identify limitations through testing, data analysis, and hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Develop tools and workflows for system bring-up, calibration, and validation to support cross-functional development.
  • Participate in early-stage design analysis and trade studies to inform architectural and implementation decisions.
  • Interface with sensing, actuation, and control components, ensuring robust communication between hardware and software

Who You Are:

  • 3–5 years of experience in robotics, systems integration, or related engineering roles.
  • Proficient in Python and comfortable working in a Linux-based development environment; experience with C++ or ROS is a plus.
  • Skilled in debugging complex systems that span software and hardware.
  • Comfortable reading technical documentation and collaborating with vendors to integrate new devices or tune system performance.
  • Able to reason through early product requirements, analyze tradeoffs, and contribute to design discussions from both a system and implementation perspective.
  • Clear communicator who works well with cross-functional teams and contributes thoughtfully to design reviews and documentation.
  • Adaptable, hands-on, and energized by working in environments where the path forward is not always fully defined.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • On-site presence expected at least 3 days per week at our Charlestown, MA offices to stay close to the hardware.

About Pickle Robot
Pickle Robot is a pioneer in Physical AI for supply chain applications. Today Pickle robots autonomously unload trucks, trailers, and import containers at human-scale or better performance. The alternative is manual work that is difficult, dirty, sometimes dangerous, and increasingly hard to staff at distribution centers around the globe. Pickle Robot is laser focused on automating truck unloading using generative AI, machine learning, computer vision, advanced sensors, and industrial robotics to deliver engineered products customers rely on. Pickle Robot Unload Systems work alongside people on loading docks to make the work safer, faster, and more efficient. Pickle robots are physical AI that unload trucks.

Pickle provides best-in-class benefits including health, dental, & vision insurance; unlimited vacation, along with all federal and state holidays; 401K contributions of 5% your salary, travel supplies, and other items to make your working life more fun, comfortable, and productive.
