Lochmueller group is seeking an experienced and energetic Roadway/Highway Design Project Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Roadway/Highway Design team. As a Roadway Design Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the infrastructure that connects communities, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions that positively impact people's daily lives for years to come. Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure.  We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local agencies and state DOT’s.

Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Serving as a project engineer in the planning and execution of local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Conducting engineering analysis and design.
  • Preparing and reviewing project documentation, reports, and specifications.
  • Applying engineering techniques, methods, and design criteria to support project execution.
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met.
  • Collaborating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • May assign work to junior engineers or other staff. 
  • Depending on the experience level of the selected candidate, this role may be involved in other various responsibilities, such as project management.

Qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar engineering field
  • 5+ years of relevant roadway/highway design engineering experience – open to candidates with more experience
  • Experience working on SCDOT roadway design projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a remote work environment
