Design and own connectivity modules from concept through production: module selection/second-sourcing, antenna design and tuning, carrier certification, field connectivity debugging, power optimization for battery life, and collaborating with vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure test coverage and production yield.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Tive, we imagine a fully-transparent world in which everything and everyone is connected. We innovate beyond what the world thought possible—so what people hold near and dear arrives on time and in full.

We believe (and live!) four core values:

  • Transparency First: We make everything visible so that everyone can operate better
  • Always strive to make things simpler
  • We are One Team, we have each other's backs
  • Relentless iteration to optimize and improve

Whether shipped by road, rail, ocean, or air, Tive reduces shipment delays, minimizes rejected loads, and decreases theft, damage, and spoilage. Our customers count on Tive to ensure that their shipments are delivered on time and in full—because every shipment matters.

As an RF/Module Engineer, you'll own hardware design of our connectivity modules- from concept through production and support.

What You'll Do

  • Own module design/selection and second-sourcing decisions across platforms
  • Antenna design/tuning in difficult RF environments
  • Drive carrier certification and network approvals globally
  • Debug field connectivity issues
  • Optimize module power consumption to meet battery life targets
  • Partner with other teams throughout development to ensure performance and quality
  • Work directly with vendors and our CMs on test coverage and production yield

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 8+ years in cellular device engineering, with hands-on work at both the RF and module layers
  • Shipped at least one cellular product through full carrier certification
  • Strong antenna and RF fundamentals
  • Fluency with cellular technology and landscape LTE-M/NB-IoT/Cat-1
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous problems on a small team
Nice to Have
  • Global deployment experience across fragmented band and roaming environments
  • Battery-powered, duty-cycled device design
  • Experience working with an offshore CM

Compensation:

$130,000 - $180,000 base salary

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

What does Tive offer?

  • A chance to join what may very well turn out to be the most important company in your career.
  • The autonomy and resources to build what you know how to build.
  • Work with a committed global team that have each others back.
  • Office-based or hybrid options. Your choice.
  • Competitive equity to ensure all of our employees have a sense of ownership in the long-term success of Tive’s growth.

We celebrate diversity, and consider it key to our success as both a team and a company. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment of mutual respect for all employees.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
