Description of Work

Join the North Carolina Zoo during an exciting period of growth as we prepare for the opening of Asia! We are seeking two new Revenue Services Specialists to join our Revenue Services Office.  These positions support the operational functions of the Revenue Services Office through advanced transactional work, customer service, and accurate documentation in both cash operations and reservations. These positions prepare and verify daily deposits, assist with change fund distribution, process reservation requests, and maintain customer account information and calendars. The Revenue Specialist performs detailed data entry and reporting in POS and reservation systems, resolves routine customer issues, and ensures the accuracy of revenue and reservation records. This role is cross‑trained to work in both functional areas as needed, supporting workflow continuity across the unit. These positions contribute directly to safeguarding Zoo revenue and delivering reliable, customer‑focused administrative services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and verify daily cash, check, and credit card deposits and assist with distribution of change funds to Zoo revenue locations.
• Support group and individual reservation activities by processing incoming requests, maintaining calendars, and ensuring accurate customer account information.
• Provide customer service by responding to inquiries related to payments, reservations, scheduling, and account changes.
• Enter, update, and verify data in electronic systems, ensuring accuracy in records and documentation.
• Assist with resolving routine transactions or reservation issues and escalating complex matters to Lead or Supervisor.
• Maintain organized files, reports, and documentation related to revenue and reservation operations.
• Support reservations operations as needed to support workload and staffing demands.
• May assist with training seasonal staff and provide routine operational guidance when a Lead is not present

Recruitment Range:   $39,244 - $42,000

  • Experience working in a cash-handling or revenue-processing environment, especially with daily deposits or reconciliation tasks.
  • Experience in reservation systems, customer booking platforms, or other scheduling software tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel or similar tools for data tracking, reporting, or financial documentation.
  • Prior experience in a customer service role involving frequent communication with the public, schools, or group clients.

Position/Physical Requirements

  • Work schedule: typically, 8am – 5pm
  • This position may be required to work on a schedule that regularly includes weekends.

Section/Unit Description 

The Revenue Services Office is part of the NC Zoo Business Services section and is responsible for managing and safeguarding Zoo revenue through accurate cash-handling operations, transaction processing, point‑of‑sale system oversight, and efficient delivery of group reservations and related services. The unit ensures reliable financial controls, supports customer transactions, and provides coordinated administrative services that directly support the Zoo’s daily operations.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
