The Revenue Accountant is a full-time hybrid role based in Boston, MA, with flexibility to work from home part of the time. This role is responsible for managing revenue recognition processes, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and ensuring accurate recording of accruals and deferred revenue. The Revenue Accountant will reconcile revenue-related accounts, support month-end and quarter-end close activities, and assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with sales, operations, and finance teams to validate contract terms, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and support internal and external audits. The role also involves identifying process improvements, enhancing reporting for SaaS revenue metrics, and contributing to scalable revenue accounting practices as the business grows.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency in revenue recognition, particularly for SaaS and subscription-based businesses, with knowledge of relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606 or equivalent).
- Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and managing accruals to ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue and related expenses.
- Ability to work with financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, and to reconcile revenue accounts as part of the close process.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA or equivalent) is a plus.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems and strong Excel skills; familiarity with SaaS metrics and CRM data is beneficial.
- Detail-oriented approach, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
