Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is a unique partnership that allows our customers to leverage the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop advanced and robust LC-MS analytical methods on mRNA payload identity (1) 5’ Cap identity and capping efficiency, (2) mRNA sequence and chemical modification identity (3) 3’ poly(A) tail length and identity
  • Optimize the RNA biochemical assays to digest mRNA to evaluate 5’ Cap structure in order to generate high quality and coverage MS1 and MS2 data
  • Test optimized RNA digestion and LC-MS protocols on commercially available mRNA and in-house made mRNA payloads
  • Review and process complex LC-MS data using analysis workflow such as BioPharma Finder, interpret result, build data visualizations, and communicate results to team
  • Train team members on sample preparation, LC-MS data generation/analysis, troubleshooting RNA LC-MS analysis
  • Sample testing for lipid raw materials, protein ligands, and LNP formulations
  • Present the findings to the GEnD team and the disease project team to inform decision making and next steps
  • Maintaining RNA LC-MS instrument and order reagents and supplies as needed
  • Maintaining/document records of all experiment including methods, experimental results, and report accordingly into electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Skills and experiments in other additional mRNA analytics are a plus (eg HPLC, CE etc)
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
  • ARS: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 6+years’)
  • OR Masters degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 4+ years’)
  • OR PhD and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 2+ years)

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive experience in LC-MS method development and sample testing. Experience in analyzing LC-MS data, especially RNA analysis is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in MS data analysis.
  • Prior experience with LNP, lipid, and/or RNA highly desired.
  • Minimum time commitment of 20-30 hours per week for 6-12 months.
  • Experience in Waters Acuity Premier UPLC System and Thermo Fisher Orbitrap Exploris 240 Mass Spectrometer
  • · Proficiency in data analysis software ( e.g., Xcalibur, Chromeleon, Empower, etc.)
