A division of Colossal Biosciences is looking for a talented cell or developmental biologist with an interest in the manipulation of avian primordial germ cells. You will work closely with other lab team members in efforts to innovate on protocols of avian primordial germ cell culture, genome editing, and reintroduction into embryos using cutting edge technologies. 

This position is based in Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance is available. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Culture avian primordial germ cells, test novel cell culture conditions, transfect cells, sort monoclonal cell lines, screen and expand cells according to latest protocols and newly developed approaches 
  • Using a glass micropipette under a microscope, collect primordial germ cells from avian embryos and inject them into surrogate embryos
  • Work with team members to assess efficiency of editing through NGS sequencing approaches
  • Attends lab meetings, prepares reports and presentations on the progress of projects
  • Great organizational skills and excellent laboratory record maintenance

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience manipulating embryos under a microscope
  • Experience in cell line derivation, culture, propagation, and transfection methodologies
  • Experience in molecular biology (nucleic and protein extraction, gel electrophoresis) 
  • Experience with qPCR, FACS, flow cytometry, immunostaining, cell microscopy
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS/MA/MS in biological sciences, developmental biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or any science related field.
