JOB SUMMARY

The Research Associate at the Defense Industrial Base Institute is responsible for completing complex tasks related to research work being conducted such as: collecting and analyzing data, data processing, recruitment strategies, scheduling participants, proofreading papers, and grants, writing and presenting scientific research, and training of research students that volunteer at the institute. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of practices related to the Defense Industrial Base, community resilience, research, data collection and data management. Able to work well both independently on a self-directed basis and with a team.  Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office applications. Skills required include analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational and attention to detail.  Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree or Master’s in a related field with at least one year's experience working on a federally funded project. Prior research or project coordination experience required. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coordinate and perform data collection and data management related to funded activities and their work phases. 

  • Collecting and analyzing data to give recommendations on solutions tied to the 5 challenges the Navy is facing

  • Work with the Research team to develop recruitment protocols, IRB materials and scheduling of study participants. Correspond with study participants and answer questions throughout study. Be able to work flexible hours which may include weekend travel to meet with communities in the Caribbean or across the United States.

  • Assist Sr. Program Research Coordinator with other research responsibilities as may be needed.
