Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health has an opening for Research Assistant II Lab. The Christiani Lab studies the interplay between environmental exposures, genetics, and disease in human populations, in the research area known as molecular epidemiology. The Research Assistant will aid the lab in various projects, particularly in the management of study samples and maintenance of laboratory equipment. The position is an RA-2 (lab), situated in the Christiani Lab
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform laboratory procedures following established protocols.
- Data entry and database maintenance, protocol programing
- Cleaning and regular maintenance of lab equipment
- Ordering of lab supplies and maintaining equipment inventory
- Other job duties as required
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of March 31, 2028.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 50 pounds
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in computer programming, Excel, Access, basic data analysis
- Experience working with human samples and DNA/RNA Extraction
- Experience with Excel, Redcap, Operating Autogen and Flexstar robotic machine for processing DNA and RNA extraction; genotyping using Illumina platforms, project management; familiar with Autopure Robotics machine, and programing for Beckman Coulter 4000 and sample normalization
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Appointment End Date: March 31, 2028
- Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week
