At System Six, we're building one of the best places to work in cloud-accounting—a place where our team members are the most important part of our business and where they consistently experience joy, flexibility, and professional growth. We are a fast-growing, modern, 100% remote organization delivering full-cycle accounting, tax, and other professional services to hundreds of clients nationwide.

We are actively seeking our next multi-client Controller for our Enterprise Accounting Delivery team, a seasoned accounting leader who serves as the outsourced finance lead for a portfolio of high-growth, investor-backed US businesses — owning financial reporting, compliance, audits, and accounting operations while leading and developing a team of accounting professionals.

This position is available for individuals based in India seeking 40 hours of work per week, allowing you to balance other important parts of your life with an exciting, fulfilling career. Our talented team loves System Six and we can’t wait to show you how that energy permeates throughout our organization.

So what are we looking for in an ideal candidate?
  • Minimum 10 years of overall accounting and finance experience with at least 3 years in a Controller role at a US-based public accounting firm
  • Demonstrated experience supporting investor-backed (VC/PE) or high-growth businesses with > $5 Million annual revenue.
  • Deep technical proficiency across US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and US compliance including payroll, sales & use tax, property tax, and business licenses — along with hands-on experience in NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online/Desktop, and Advanced Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements concurrently without compromising quality — experience in a multi-client outsourced or CAS environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals, with the ability to delegate, review work, and hold team members accountable to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Exceptional written anlid verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for founders, CFOs, and investors.
  • Humility and openness to coaching and critique; always seeking to improve.
  • Keen attention to detail and an obsession with accuracy, integrity, and dependability in all work.
  • Joy and a positive attitude in all communications, internally and externally.
What does the day to day look like for this role?
  • You’ll serve as the outsourced Controller for a portfolio of US-based clients — communicating proactively, participating in calls and meetings, and ensuring every interaction reflects our high standards for service and responsiveness.
  • You’ll onboard new clients, building out the accounting processes, systems, and procedures that set each relationship up for long-term success. You’ll lead special projects including system migrations, M&A preparation, budget development, chart of accounts redesigns, and other strategic financial initiatives.
  • You’ll prepare and review timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and management reports, providing strategic financial guidance to clients around growth, investor reporting, and compliance.
  • You’ll lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals — delegating daily tasks, reviewing and approving work products for accuracy and quality, and coordinating workload across multiple client engagements.
  • Your work and your team’s work will be cleanly organized in Karbon, our practice management system — a critical tool that sets everyone up for success managing work across multiple clients.
  • Overall your work will be 70% client-focused and 30% team-focused
Importantly, here’s what’s in it for you:
  • A joyful work environment where employees and culture are paramount. We understand that we are all humans and we want your success in your professional life to enhance your personal life.
  •  A 100% remote environment. We’ve been remote for 10+ years and are set up for you to succeed remotely while working with flexibility.
  • A leadership role with direct impact on high-growth, investor-backed companies across a diverse portfolio of US clients and industries.
  • Growth opportunities. We are a fast growing company on a multi-decade journey of evolution. We relish promoting from within, and will support you in your efforts to grow with System Six.
  • Competitive compensation. The minimum starting salary for this position is 2,200,000 CTC annually.

This is a full-time, work from home position employed by our India-based entity. This role requires full availability from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) to effectively collaborate with US-based clients and internal teams. Candidates must be comfortable working on a schedule aligned with US Eastern business hours.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
