Position Purpose
At Sleep Number, our purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of society through higher quality sleep, and we begin with building lifelong relationships with our customers. The Regional Director’s primary role is to lead their team of 4-6 MSLs (50-80 stores) to deliver sales, profit, and market share growth through innovation and operational excellence in partnership and under the guidance of their Regional Vice President (RVP). The Regional Director is a key member of the Sales and Services leadership team and will be responsible for communicating and cascading company vision, mission, strategy, and key objectives. This leader will provide strategic leadership directly to multi-store leaders and indirectly to store leaders and teams. The Regional Director will attract and develop high performing teams, create a culture of talent development and inclusion, and inspire superior performance. This leader will personally role model Sleep Number values and advance commitments on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This is a remote position and will be overseeing/visiting stores in the Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky markets. Local candidates and/or those with the ability to relocate to the market is strongly preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive both top line (revenue) growth and bottom line (profit) for their stores, the region, and the company, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), inspecting and reinforcing the results and how they are achieved
- Play a key role in employee development planning for Multi-Store Leaders and high-potential Store Managers
- Drive a culture that is “customer first” with key decisions made with the customer in mind.
- Create a culture with team members of continuous evolution that leverages a growth mindset leadership approach
- Leverage sales driving opportunities and profit optimization through execution of the company sales process, skill development, retention, customer experience/ and marketing/promotions optimization
- Operate as a collaborative and thought leader, effectively coordinating with and utilizing internal partnerships to optimize sales execution excellence, and company objectives
- Challenge, motivate and inspire team to exceed sales goals; remove barriers to enable focus on achieving business objectives.
- Advocate and model talent development; build a talent pipeline through strategic hiring, succession planning and employee development
- Role model the company core values and commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Position Requirements
- 3+ years of previous multi-unit leadership with a successful brand in a sales-oriented business required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to inspire others with a track record of building high performing cohesive teams
- Ability to successfully identify, prioritize, develop, communicate, and execute plans to achieve business objectives
- Outstanding team building and motivation skills: ability to unite teams in pursuit of achieving common goals
- Demonstrated learning agility, curiosity and ability to deliver results with speed, quality, and continuous iteration in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
- Demonstrated courage, and integrity; ability to build trust and rapport with all levels of the organization
- Experience utilizing data, technology, and analytics to deliver superior results Strong business acumen; able to effectively understand and utilize financial statements (i.e., P&L, budget, sales reports, other insight tools)
- Able to build consensus and influence without authority, across levels within organization
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships with all constituencies, both internal and external
- Demonstrated change leadership and conflict management within team and organization
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
- Strong listening and question asking skills, ability to learn from team members and advocate on team member and customer’s behalf.
Working Conditions
- Requires 65-75%+ travel within geographic territory, quarterly travel to regional or corporate events and ability to relocate for advancement opportunities
