Job Description SummaryThe Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for providing direction and support for all EH&S activities, including implementation, monitoring, and review of C&W compliance/performance.Job Description

REQUIRED LOCATION: Greater Boston Area

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, manage and lead the deployment of C&W’s EH&S programs across the US, to ensure safety is part of day-to-day operations at each site within the Asset Services
  • Effectively communicate C&W’s safety culture and operating philosophies
  • Assist in the identification of possible losses; evaluate the risk in such loss exposure; develop and implement a plan to correct or prevent a loss; and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness
  • Maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training
  • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected. Coordinate with Regional Engineering Leaders and site management on deficiencies and monthly safety inspections
  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements
  • Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, report and manage the corrective actions
  • Support Workers Compensation (WC) claims tracking, investigation, and management process
  • Liaise with WC Program Manager and benefits group on all aspects of injury management and rehabilitation
  • Support compliance with all EH&S record keeping requirements, including corporate and regulatory compliance/program documentation, e.g., auditing, training, medical, and OSHA records
  • Participate in site inspections and third-party audits to assure/verify regional compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations
  • Travel to corporate and management offices as required
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure the online safety training platform meets industry standards and OSHA requirements
  • Collaborate with other service lines and global EH&S to implement programs and initiatives employed across C&W
  • Review Policies & Procedures process specific to EH&S, as well as support sites in preparation of their manuals for Emergency Procedures and Tenant Emergency Procedures
  • Develop standards and processes related to common environmental issues in commercial buildings such as asbestos, fuel oil storage tank management, indoor air quality, mold remediation and water intrusion
  • Attend new business presentations to discuss relevant EH&S topics

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related sciences.
  • 5–8 years of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) experience, specifically within General Industry (OSHA 1910) — not mining, maritime, agriculture, or strictly construction.
  • Experience in higher education environments strongly preferred
  • Safety certifications preferred (CSP, ASP, or CIH)

Additional Requirements

  • Demonstrated success as a self‑starter with the ability to manage work and schedule independently without on‑site oversight.
  • Strong generalist EHS knowledge, with the ability to identify hazards, review corrective actions, and document findings.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare site visit reports with notes and photographs.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and the ability to travel frequently (multi‑state coverage).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is field‑heavy with extensive travel across regional sites. The majority of time will be spent on customer locations, with approximately 3–4 days per week onsite and 1–2 days remote performing documentation, reporting, and planning.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Walking throughout facilities and campuses
  • Standing for extended periods during inspections or audits
  • Climbing ladders as needed to assess safety conditions
  • Operating a motor vehicle to travel between sites
  • Carrying light equipment such as a laptop, camera, or small inspection tools
  • Communicating clearly to exchange accurate safety information with site staff and customers

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $ 85,000.00 - $100,000.00
