Director of Human Resources - Northeast

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Director of Human Resources - Northeast for our Human Resources team.

This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources. Position will be fully onsite in Somerville, MA for the first 90 days. After 90 days, the position will follow a hybrid schedule approved by the manager and Human Resources.

Responsibilities: 

As part of a company-wide, ten-person HR team:

  • Monitor industry & company trends and communicate challenges and opportunities related to retention and recruitment to General Managers and Executives.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement by communicating and implementing updated human resources policies and procedures to all staff members.
  • Engage as the ombudsperson for the employees in the regions proactively responding to their needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to General Managers & local Managers in handling progressive discipline, employee relations issues and termination processes in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Coach employees & managers through performance issues with the intent to drive success and retention.
  • Support managers with our performance management processes (9-Box process & Performance Reviews).
  • Understand the organizational structure of the region being supported. 
  • Participate in Career Checks (stay interviews).
  • Become the Triumvirate lead on employee engagement activities & communication (supported by a cross functional team and supported administratively).
  • Champion of our formalized mentor program for the region being supported.
  • Deliver segments of our current training and development programs. 
  • Be a part of an HR team that does delivery of formalized HR training.
  • Involvement in regional Mergers and Acquisition activity (onboarding, not due diligence). 
  • Build a strong understanding of the staff and talent in the region and engage in face-to-face “Human Moments.”
  • Engage with other members of the HR team for projects as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes and updates (Wage & Hour & FLSA Classifications)
  • Readily coach managers on performance management to foster employee engagement and development.
  • Create strong mentoring and working relationships with local managers.

Basic Requirements: 

  • 5+ years in a Human Resources role
  • Prior Management experience
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and approachability
  • 4-year degreed professional
  • Experience handling employee relations issues
  • Experience supporting a decentralized organization
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship 
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • HRCI or SHRM certification preferred
