THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Regional Account Manager (RAM) will oversee and directly manage key regional accounts (Grocery, Club, Mass, Speciality, etc), supporting all aspects of the sales cycle, including management of existing accounts, brokers, and distributor relationships in partnership with the Regional Field Sales Manager and Field Sales Team. A proactive approach to all aspects of customer, broker, and distributor management is a must!

This is an individual contributor role and reports to a Senior Director, Sales - National Accounts.  The role is remote, but due to the amount of travel, living close to a major airport is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for building & managing relationships with national & regional accounts including; grocery, mass, natural, club and specialty chain accounts
  • Responsible for developing and implementing account strategies including expanding distribution and availability of key SKU’s, promotional & display plans to achieve predetermined brand, volume, and Key Performance Indicator objectives for the assigned accounts
  • Manage all Trade spend to goals with customers and brokers
  • Broker management, communication and follow-up
  • Conducts analysis and develop presentations that increase the company feature and display activity, expand distribution, optimize shelf position to increase volume, achieve plan and grow market share
  • Proactively executes customer development strategies as identified by the SVP, Sales - Retail
  • Initiates regular correspondence to communicate chain account progress, pricing & promotional activity, display programs, annual resets, and/or setbacks to all impacted field sales, distributor personnel, finance, operations, and management
  • Work with the field sales team to develop and communicate chain execution standards and expectations including for key selling, display events
  • Use category management expertise in order to maximize distribution, shelf presence, cold box presence, feature ad support, and display impact in all assigned accounts
  • Maintain and analyze distributor and market data regarding account performance, as well as SPINS/IRI performance, and prepare reports for senior management
  • Stay abreast of competitive climate in assigned territory
  • 80% of time selling and managing customers, distributors, brokers and field sales communication,to achieve sales goals. This will be done from the office or while traveling for customer and other meetings.
  • 20% of time in retail accounts with the Hint team, brokers, and distributors sharing best practice and understanding the competitive landscape.  Looking for customer opportunities for in store execution, pricing and product placement opportunities.
  • Travel to customers via car, train, subway, taxi, and air

Requirements

SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Four-year college degree or relevant experience will be considered
  • 5+ years of proven Sales experience in Account Management with key national and/or regional retail accounts (Grocery, Natural, Mass, Club, etc)
  • Independent, self-starter who excels in a fast-paced organization
  • Experience in one or more key retail channels:  Grocery, Club, Mass, Natural/Speciality
  • Large and Small brand company experience
  • Trade Management
  • Strong computer skills, PPT, Excel, Google docs, etc
  • Experience with multiple RTM; DSD, Broadliners, Direct, Etc
  • Retail promotional planning
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • A strong sense of urgency and a positive attitude
Benefits
  • Base salary of $100,000-120,000, based on territory and experience. Actual salary offer may vary based on location and work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
