About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated R&D Atlassian Operations Specialist to support and enhance how our R&D organization uses Jira. In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping and executing the Jira platform strategy to drive consistency, transparency, and operational excellence across our engineering, product, and technical program management teams.

As the owner of JIRA for R&D, you will own the design and maintenance of R&D company-managed workflows, ensure data integrity, support robust reporting, and help integrate JIRA into our broader operating system. You'll partner closely with TPMs, engineering leadership, platform admins, and go-to-market (GTM) teams to ensure JIRA remains the single source of truth for work happening across R&D. You will help us leverage data from JIRA to improve how we work and support in optimizing how R&D leverages Confluence to document and disseminate information across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Ownership: Design, implement, and maintain R&D company-managed JIRA workflows that reflect how we plan, execute, and deliver across engineering teams.
  • Drive Consistency: Support the consistent use of JIRA across engineering teams in R&D by establishing templates, conventions, and best practices.
  • Dashboard Management: Create and maintain dashboards for R&D and collaborate with TPMs to ensure consistent reporting views for Engineering Managers and Single Threaded Owners.
  • System Integration: Collaborate alongside ServiceNow, Salesforce, Gainsight, and other GTM tooling admins to bolster cross-platform integrations and eliminate friction between R&D and GTM teams.
  • Documentation: Develop clear, up-to-date documentation for how JIRA is used in R&D—including how to set up new projects and onboard new teams effectively.
  • Data Quality: Perform regular audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across projects and teams.
  • Feature Exploration: Trial new features in JIRA to keep our usage modern and aligned with our evolving needs.
  • Strategic Connections: Help connect JIRA to core systems such as our Product Development Operating System, ensuring traceability and alignment between strategic goals and execution.
  • Confluence Management: Manage the structure, organization, and maintenance of R&D’s confluence space, ensuring it is the source of truth for how we work.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience administering JIRA in a technical organization.
  • Deep understanding of JIRA company-managed projects, workflows, permissions, automation, and reporting tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira Cloud, Confluence and other relevant Atlassian products.
  • Experience designing scalable JIRA configurations across multiple teams and functions.
  • Familiarity with integrating JIRA with third-party tools e.g. Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Gainsight
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to translate systems into clear onboarding materials.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience performing audits and surfacing insights from JIRA.
  • Experience with workflow customization using plugins such as scriptrunner, jira workflow extensions, or scripting.
  • Understanding of agile software development within a product/engineering org.
  • AI first mindset, with experience learning and leveraging AI Tools to optimize output.

What You’ll Bring

  • A systems-thinking approach to tooling and process.
  • An agile mindset—you're excited to make life easier and more productive for engineers, product managers, and TPMs.
  • An eye for detail and quality—whether it’s workflow design or dashboard integrity.
  • Curiosity and initiative—you proactively explore new features and continuously improve our use of JIRA.
