What We're Researching

We're running a paid study on educational assessment in the quantum computing space. We are hiring domain experts to evaluate a structured exam paper designed for beginners. The goal is to ensure all technical questions, code prompts, and rubrics are scientifically sound and free of ambiguity.

How It Works

During this remote task, you will review a JSON file containing multiple-choice and short-answer questions covering fundamental quantum concepts like qubits, superposition, and entanglement. You will audit the provided answers for technical correctness and ensure distractor options are logically distinct. Additionally, you will verify Qiskit code questions, evaluate the grading rubrics, and propose edge test cases for the code evaluations. Finally, you will return an approved or corrected version of the exam dataset.

Who This Is For

We welcome quantum software engineers, quantum physicists, and computer scientists specializing in quantum information. You should have strong practical experience with quantum circuits, quantum gates, and the Qiskit framework. We also welcome academic instructors or teaching assistants who have previously designed coursework in quantum mechanics or applied quantum computing.

What You'll Do
  • Audit multiple-choice options and correct answers for technical accuracy and clarity

  • Verify the accuracy of Qiskit code snippets used to generate quantum states

  • Review and refine grading rubrics for short-answer and coding questions

  • Propose and document edge test cases to ensure robust automated grading

  • Submit a corrected JSON file containing the finalized exam questions and answers

Who Should Apply
  • Professional or academic background in quantum computing or quantum physics

  • Hands-on experience writing and evaluating quantum circuits using Qiskit

  • Strong understanding of core quantum concepts like superposition and entanglement

  • Comfortable reading and editing structured JSON data

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
