Job Description

Quality Optimization Engineer Lead

The Quality Optimization Engineer Lead is responsible for implementation and support of the First Time Right and Product Release Optimization program, supporting process improvement and promote Productivity. This role will be responsible for creation of DMAIC trainings, and deployment.

Your role:

  • Support the execution of quality improvement kaizen events and optimize product release, sampling, and destructive testing methodologies at operations sites, focusing on identifying conditions required for producing good parts, implementing controls to prevent defects, and driving cost savings and process efficiencies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and site leadership to assess, prioritize risks, and develop and implement action plans to improve product quality, streamline inspection processes and to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor, providing guidance on problem solving principles, methodologies, and tools, promoting a culture of quality at the source. Lead efforts to optimize product release processes by conducting thorough analyses, implementing data-driven solutions, and reducing reliance on manual inspection throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality, escapes, scrap, inventory levels, and cost of poor quality (COPQ), identifying trends and areas for improvement. Drive continuous improvement efforts within the quality improvement program and product release processes, leveraging data-driven insights and best practices to enhance product quality and reduce cycle time.
  • This flexible role offers you the opportunity to work with international teams, while benefiting from an office-based working model (spend at least 3 days working from the office and up to 2 days from home).  Travel between 20-30% globally is required for strategic and key initiatives, as well as leadership activities.
  • Develop and deliver training materials focused on problem-solving methodologies, with an emphasis on DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology; Conduct basic problem-solving training sessions to enhance team capabilities in continuous improvement practices.

You're the right fit if:

  • You’ve acquired 7+ years of experience in Quality Management or related areas within Medical Device (strongly preferred) or other regulated industries. You have strong experience in DMAIC Methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) or equivalent problem-solving methodology. You have experience mentoring and coaching, and with leading projects (project management). Experience developing quality improvement strategies preferred. Experience in training trainers and coach development is a plus, as well as experience delivering formal curriculum (a plus).
  • Your skills include strong communication and organizational skills; comfortability presenting to a broad audience of learners from different levels within the organization; and strong analytical skills to interpret and present data (data analytics applied to Quality). Formal coaching training required.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related field (Mathematics, Statistics, etc.), and are Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or Master Black Belt) certified.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You’re self-driven and able to work independently, and a strong team player/collaborator with experience working with international cross functional/multidisciplinary teams.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in Colorado Springs, CO, Nashville, TN, Orange, OH, Murrysville, PA, and Reedsville, PA is $114,750 to $183,600.

The pay range for this position in Plymouth, MN is $120,488 to $192,780.

The pay range for this position in San Diego, CA, Cambridge, MA, Rancho Cordova, CA, and Bothell, WA is $128,520 to $205,632.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.   

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.  Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more.  Details about our benefits can be found here. 

At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position.  For this position, you must reside in or within commuting distance to the posted site.
