Position: Quality Improvement & Data Analyst
Department: Eskasoni Health Centre
Reports to: Manager of Administrative Operations
Status: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) Unionized

About the Opportunity

Eskasoni Health Centre is seeking a skilled and motivated Quality Improvement & Data Analyst to support data-driven decision-making and continuous quality improvement across all health programs. This role plays a key part in improving processes, enhancing service delivery, and supporting optimal health outcomes for the community.

Reporting to the Manager of Administrative Operations, the Quality Improvement & Data Analyst will oversee data management systems, maintain physical and electronic health records, and support program teams through data collection, analysis, and reporting. This position also contributes to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, ensuring services meet operational and accreditation standards while upholding First Nations Ownership Control and Possession (OCAP) principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with program teams to collect, manage, and analyze data across all health programs
  • Provides technical guidance and support to staff, program leads, and management on data use, system improvements, and performance measurement
  • Conducts literature reviews, environmental scans, and applies best practice guidelines to support evidence-informed decision-making
  • Maintains confidential physical and electronic records, ensuring accuracy, organization, and accessibility
  • Identifies trends, gaps, and root causes to inform quality improvement initiatives
  • Supports program teams (e.g., Integrated Health, Mental Health, Early Childhood) in determining data needs and developing reporting tools
  • Contributes to the development of quality frameworks, monitoring processes, and feedback mechanisms
  • Prepares and maintains regular reports to track progress, outcomes, and performance indicators
  • Engages with community members to ensure their perspectives are reflected in data and planning processes
  • Upholds privacy, confidentiality, and First Nations data sovereignty in alignment with OCAP principles
  • Monitors patient concerns and care responses, identifies trends, and supports timely follow-up with program leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Completion of an undergraduate-level statistics course or equivalent demonstrated competency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data systems, and data visualization tools
  • Knowledge of privacy, confidentiality, and data governance principles
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, including confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Experience

  • Experience in data analysis and management, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working with multiple programs or interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience translating data into actionable insights to support program improvement

Cultural Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of cultural competency principles
  • Experience working with Mi’kmaw and/or Indigenous communities is highly desirable
  • Understanding of community-based approaches to health and wellness
  • Respect for and commitment to First Nations data sovereignty, including OCAP principles
