The Psychometrist reports to the Neurology Lab Manager and clinically supervised by the Directors of Neuropsychology. The Psychometrist is responsible for administering neuropsychological tests to adult patients with diverse neurological disorders: scoring tests using standardized procedures, computing normative data and compiling data summary tables. The Psychometrist will discuss and review test results with the Neuropsychologist on a regular basis and is expected to seek supervision as needed to provide the best possible patient care.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

Responsibilities also include:

  • Administers neuropsychological tests following clinical instruction under the direction of a member of the Neuropsychology staff.
  • Follow protocols to ensure accurate and valid test results.
  • Maintenance of test protocols inventory, purchasing, storage and filing.  
  • Scores tests and completes data analysis; compiles and organizes test data for interpretation by Neuropsychologists.
  • Behavioral observation; document examinee behavior, mood, effort and any factors that may affect performance.
  • Provide written behavioral summaries to support interpretation.
  • Interact extensively with the supervising Neuropsychologists, patients and their families, medical staff and other Medical Center Personnel. 
  • Handle and store test materials and results securely and confidentially; comply with all HIPAA and ethical guidelines.
  • Administrative duties as assigned.
  • Management of testing supplies and test equipment. Communicate all supply needs with supervisor.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to psychological testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:  

At the minimum a bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in psychology, but mathematics, statistics or other related health science field will be considered.  At least 1 year of related work experience required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Ideally the Psychometrist will have a Master’s degree and will be working towards or already have certification from the Board of Certified Psychometrists and/or have a Master’s degree with test administration training or experience.

Experience with computer systems is required, including web based applications, digital tests, some Microsoft Office application which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and others as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Psychometrists have the ability to analyze and explain technical information without prior knowledge of the subject. They are able to collaborate in a team environment working with statistical data. Some other skills should include:

Pay Range:

$39,520.00 USD - $56,160.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
