The Prospecting Specialist is responsible for driving new business growth within the Food Processing, Manufacturing and Safety Industries. The Prospecting Specialist will also bring in new business from prospects or leads, as well as develop new customer relationships. This role will be required to drive net new business opportunities into the organization which will then transition over to existing inside sales territories. This will require collaborative cross functional business acumen. A successful candidate will be an experienced sales professional with documented experience of business development, lead generation or cold calling who is comfortable having conversations and developing relationships with new business contacts. The ideal candidate will reside in Mountain or Pacific time zone

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acquire business from prospective customers within the food industry.
  • Build solid, trusting, and measurable relationships with new customers within the Food Industry, while developing a complete understanding of new account needs
  • Optimally deploy Neogen resources to meet prospective customer needs and grow Neogen business by expanding market presence
  • Collaborate with the sales team to maximize revenue by targeting prospective customers and approaching new business as a team
  • Plan and present reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders, for use in future case studies or company training
  • Analyzing customer data to provide measurable customer relationship management including monthly, quarterly and annual reviews. Accurately forecast growth
  • Expand relationships and bring in new customers, prospects, developed pipelines
  • Other duties associated with business growth as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

  • Be self-motivated and self-directed as well as being a team player
  • Must develop ongoing product knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot or make recommendations based on customer’s needs
  • Able to determine what company investments are needed to close and/or manage business
  • Able to analyze sales data and statistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person
  • Strong negotiation skills, with ability follow-through on customer commitments
  • Proven results of delivering customer solutions and meeting sales goals
