Agile Six is a people-first, remote-work company that partners shoulder-to-shoulder with federal agencies to create innovative, human-centered solutions. Our Just Cause is to “build better by putting people first”, and we are animated by our core values of Purpose, Wholeness, Trust, Self-Management, and Inclusion.

As a growing organization, we take a different approach to growth: we pursue purpose-driven work that aligns with our values and culture. We believe traditional business development practices, such as commission structures and bonuses, lead to misaligned incentives. Instead, we focus on collaboration, listening, and responding to the needs of clients, partners, and our team. If you’re passionate about building a better government and fostering relationships based on trust, we’d love to hear from you!

The Role

Agile Six is seeking a Proposal Strategist to join our Proposal Team. This is not a typical proposal development position. We’re not looking for someone who works in traditional, process-heavy ways. Instead, we seek someone who thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment, where flexibility and team outcomes matter more than rigid processes. We believe overly prescriptive proposal processes often provide a false sense of security at the expense of creativity and true collaboration. At Agile Six, we:

  • Collaborate until the last responsible moment instead of spending time on laborious, formalized reviews.
  • Prioritize gathering context over relying on traditional BD structures.
  • Focus on the entire set of needs—of our clients, partners, and team members.

In this role, you’ll drive proposal management, content development, and submission activities while fostering trust-based collaboration across Agile Six teams. We really care about what we do, and we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for building a better government through purposeful work. While proposal work sometimes requires uneven hours to meet deadlines, we commit to wholeness through wellness time, flexibility, and an ongoing dialogue around balance. And while our proposal professionals wear many hats, the primary focus of this role will be proposal management and proposal writing.

Responsibilities
  • Proposal Management and Operations
    • Lead, organize and manage proposal efforts, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and requirements are met.
    • Create and drive production schedules, including final polishing of proposal documents such as desktop publishing, formatting, and editing to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Content Development and Editing
    • Write, format, and edit proposal sections, RFIs, white papers, case studies, and other content to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with Agile Six’s values and voice.
    • Contribute to the final set-up and submission of proposals, ensuring all components are well-organized and compliant.
    • Coordinate submission activities, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of all components.
    • Manage version control and maintain organized, accessible proposal resources.
  • Infrastructure and Tooling
    • Improve proposal infrastructure and tools, streamlining processes to support organizational growth and improve team efficiency.
    • Explore and engage in the responsible use of AI to enhance proposal development, writing, production, and business development activities.
  • Collaboration and Coordination
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams to align around proposal goals and meet critical deadlines.
    • Balance flexibility with attention to detail to ensure proposal materials reflect Agile Six’s commitment to quality and purpose-driven outcomes.
    • Adapt to evolving proposal needs instead of adhering to prescriptive approaches.
    • Continuously improve proposal processes to balance efficiency with team creativity and outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience managing the federal proposal lifecycle, including writing, editing, project management, and team coordination.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling content.
  • Proficiency in desktop publishing tools (e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe) and LLMs (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude).
  • Ability to facilitate team collaboration, bringing contributors together to align around goals and deliver results.
  • A desire to work in a non-traditional proposal environment that values flexibility, collaboration, and purpose-driven outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities effectively.
  • A passion for building a better government through meaningful work and lasting relationships.
  • A willingness to support other teams (e.g. recruiting, contracts) during low proposal submission times.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with federal proposal requirements and submission processes.
  • Experience working in a remote-first, collaborative team environment.
  • An understanding of government contracting and the proposal landscape.
  • You are a U.S. Veteran. As a service-disabled veteran-owned business, we recognize the transition to civilian life can be tricky, and welcome and encourage Veterans to apply.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
