At Embr Labs, we believe that harnessing the body’s natural response to temperature can improve personal well-being. We are a wellness tech company that has developed a unique wearable cooling & warming technology with therapeutic applications in both the consumer and regulated device space. Our wearable technology is accompanied by a mobile app and backend, creating a platform for combining digital therapeutic experiences, personal heating & cooling, and data science to deliver powerful digital thermal interventions. Our unique technology was first invented by the company’s founders while at MIT, and we are backed by Bose Ventures and Intel Capital.

‘EMBR’ stands for Environment, Mind, Body Resonance: we believe that technology can help us lead more balanced lives. Our workplace cultivates both fulfillment and fun. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to help create a future where digital thermal interventions help people live better lives.

Description

In 2018, we shared our patented technology with the world through the launch of our first consumer product, Embr Wave. Embr Wave is a warming and cooling wristband that makes you feel an equivalent of 5ºF more comfortable and has an engaging companion app. To date, we have sold tens of thousands of units as a direct-to-consumer business. Through customer feedback, we learned that our wearable heating and cooling technology was providing a range of wellness and therapeutic benefits for users, far beyond just thermal discomfort.  This traction has led to a pilot partnership with Johnson & Johnson to explore innovative temperature solutions for menopausal symptoms.

Embr Labs is looking for a Wellness Intervention Scientist who can drive the strategy, development, and validation of digital thermal interventions for both consumer wellness and regulated medical applications. Example applications range from relaxation and sleep to hot flashes, anxiety, social connection, and chronic pain. The Wellness Intervention Scientist will lead interdisciplinary and collaborative research efforts and have a direct impact on the technology and product roadmap at Embr Labs. The Wellness Intervention Scientist will develop a validation roadmap for both consumer and medical applications, expand our network of researcher collaborators, support business development and help secure external funding from strategic partners, guide the internal development of digital thermal interventions, write grant applications to support longer-term research, and communicate our findings with customers, partners, and the scientific community through publications, conferences, white papers and infographics.

The Wellness Intervention Scientist will report to the Chief Scientific Officer and work closely with the engineering, product, and data science teams. This position has enormous vertical mobility and the right candidate could quickly be leading a team and serving as part of the management team.  The Wellness Intervention Scientist will have the opportunity to improve the lives of millions of people around the world. (S)he will take on a leadership role by establishing Embr Labs as the undisputed market leader in thermal wellness.
