The Opportunity: athenahealth, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATHN), a leading provider of network-enabled services for hospital and ambulatory clients nationwide. You would be joining the Integration Services department which is responsible for athenahealth’s interoperability to other EHRs, revenue management services, single-sign on solutions, and other vendors that help clients meet their business goals via an ever expanding variety of approaches.
Position Summary:
Client Integration is a rapidly growing organization responsible for building the most trusted and connected healthcare data exchange service platform in the country. As a key member of this team, the Program Manager (PM) will manage the implementation of integration solutions for clients/health systems in the country. The individual will work with key client stakeholders (Relationship Manager, IT, Operations) and ensure tangible value (practice and provider efficiencies) is created by managing the implementation of integration solutions designed by the Relationship Manager / Integration Design. The Program Manager will be the primary face-off and driver for the program and will execute and communicate on all phases of the project life-cycle.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
75% Technical Program Management

  • Drive successful implementation of new interface programs in support of new client onboarding onto athena’s cloud-based platform and new interface programs for existing clients
  • Manage integration program plans to ensure that deliverables are trending in accordance with critical path and milestones within the agreed upon implementation timelines
  • Drive program success through stakeholder management including client’s project team and sponsor, senior management, C-level leaders, and third party vendors
  • Responsible for coordination of all athena teams involved in onboarding programs
  • Coordinate onboarding programs across multiple clients including management of varied timelines and levels complexity
  • Identify risks to timeline or scope in order to mitigate or resolve


25% Internal Optimization Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for improvements to internal processes and participate in strategic initiatives
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional improvement initiatives in support of team/division/company yearly goals to improve athenahealth’s overall operations


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technology operations engagements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Possess excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and relationship development at all levels of an organization as well as ability to tailor messaging appropriate to applicable audience
  • Possess strong technical and analytical skills along with a desire and ability to solve complex business problems
  • Ability to keep track of numerous, interdependent projects in great detail
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle rapidly changing priorities as needed
  • Aptitude for optimizing processes, tools, and role(s) to improve scalability, efficiency and quality
  • Assesses information critically, recognizing trends and breaking information into key components and able to generate and recommend ideas for improvement and process innovation
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required, advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience, with 1 year of leadership responsibility
