Accounting Analyst-Hospital
Position Summary: The Accounting Analyst Senior Associate will support the client and internal teams on athenaOne for Hospitals and Health Systems implementations and post go-live support. Responsible for supporting multiple clients and projects at one time with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. The position requires a background in accounting and financial statement workflow.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 40% [Data Analysis & Forensic Accounting]
- Analyze historical financial accounting information to troubleshoot reconciliation issues
- Identify data integrity issues and collaborate with internal stakeholders (product team) to conduct analyses and resolve differences
- Tracing and vouching financial information to substantiate financial reporting
- Utilize accounting and product knowledge (transaction flow) to identify anomalies and prevent escalations
- Design and execute client monitoring programs to detect reconciliation and data integrity escalations
30% [Client Training & Support]
- Support all client financial accounting and reporting needs, including month-end close, financial statement audit and ongoing post go-live support
- Collaboratively plan, oversee, and conduct client training programs using existing tools and training processes, focusing on both formal training sessions and remote support
- Identify training gaps and develop new training programs, tools, and processes to address those gaps
- Responsible for managing client expectations and advocating their needs
- Ensure customer satisfaction through follow-up, client responsiveness and thorough communication
30% [Leverage Subject Matter Expertise]
- Consult with implementation team members on complex accounting configuration
- Collaborate with client and internal stakeholders to accommodate financial reporting needs (i.e., Board of Directors reporting)
- Demonstrate mastery in product knowledge via athenahealth and partner trainings
- Identify patterns in the difficulties faced by clients and create collateral or new processes to help implementation teams overcome these difficulties
- Training team members on new capabilities
- Collaborating with product management colleagues to partner on workflow and product improvements
- Collaborate with stakeholders at the client and athena to develop client-customized financial workflow documents for processes
Education, Experience, & Skills Required:
- Bachelor Degree required; Degree in Accounting preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience, ideally in accounting or health care financials setting
- Knowledge of standard accounting principles and financial statement workflow required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong computer literacy and the comfort, ability, and desire to advance technically
- Strong verbal communication and business writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
