Becker Professional Education is looking for a Project Manager to join our Accounting Product team. This role drives delivery across our full product portfolio — from new product launches and major updates to process improvement initiatives and ecommerce platform development on Drupal and Salesforce.
You will partner closely with cross-functional teams in Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Support, and Technology. You are expected to lead with clarity, communicate status without jargon, resolve obstacles decisively, and hold teams accountable to timelines and deliverables.
This role requires both traditional project management rigor and the ability to remain flexible and adaptable to evolving project needs, changing conditions, and team dynamics. Additionally, the role must have enough technical fluency to manage software development projects — understanding the software development lifecycle, reading a Jira board, and translating technical complexity into plain-language stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
PRODUCT LAUNCHES & MAJOR PRODUCT UPDATES (65%)
• Develop and manage end-to-end project plans for new product launches and significant product updates, defining key activities, milestones, timelines, and resource requirements
• Conduct project meetings, capture and distribute meeting notes and action items, and track completion of deliverables to ensure quality and integrity across all workstreams
• Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams — including Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, Finance and Technology — to ensure smooth implementation and successful commercial launch
• Manage cross-team dependencies, anticipate bottlenecks, and escalate blockers before they compound into schedule risk
• Own release coordination: define readiness criteria, run go/no-go checkpoints, and document post-launch issues and learnings
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS (10%)
• Lead significant process improvement initiatives from scoping through implementation, ensuring business objectives are clearly defined and measurable
• Identify process gaps, propose lightweight and scalable solutions, and drive adoption across relevant teams
• Provide input on how to use resources more effectively; coordinate and negotiate staffing or capacity changes with functional managers as needed
• Coach project team members to support achievement of project objectives; provide timely feedback and ensure accountability for deliverables
• Maintain project information repositories to ensure quality and integrity of all project documentation and data
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (DRUPAL & SALESFORCE ECOMMERCE) (25%)
• Own project tracking for software development workstreams supporting Becker's ecommerce systems (Drupal and Salesforce): maintain Jira hygiene, surface blockers, and manage dependencies end-to-end
• Translate technical scope and engineering status into clear stakeholder updates — no jargon, no vague status
• Drive prioritization conversations with product and engineering leads using data and business impact, not gut feel
• Understand the software development lifecycle well enough to identify risks early, ask the right questions, and unblock engineering teams
• Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent) to draft status summaries, risk logs, and meeting follow-ups — operating more efficiently and reducing manual overhead
STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION & GOVERNANCE
• Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to project stakeholders at all levels of the organization with executive presence and confidence
• Identify and address project obstacles, demonstrating impartiality and sound judgment when navigating competing priorities
• Make effective, business-focused decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress a project
• Strong executive presence, leadership and interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels within the organization
• Utilize established project management methodologies (PMBOK or equivalent) to ensure consistency and rigor and the ability to remain flexible and adaptable to evolving project needs, changing conditions, and team dynamics across all projects
COMPLETES OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) required
• 5+ years of full lifecycle project management experience, including demonstrated application of PMBOK or equivalent project management methodology
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write concise status updates and clear risk flags for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify root causes and evaluate alternative solutions
• Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to be nimble and flexible to changing project requirements and deliverables
• Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to make sound, impartial decisions with minimal supervision
• Ability to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of the organization
Preferred
• Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred
• Experience managing software development projects, including familiarity with the SDLC, agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban), APIs and integrations, and release management
• Fluency in Jira — not just ticket creation, but workflow configuration, reporting, and dependency tracking
• Experience in edtech, SaaS, professional certification, or academic enterprise environments; accounting education background is a significant plus
• Active user of AI productivity tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) in day-to-day project management work
• Familiarity with ecommerce platforms, CRM systems (Salesforce), or CMS platforms (Drupal) is a plus
