The Epic Aura Project Manager will oversee strategic planning and successful delivery of Epic Aura integrations for genomic laboratory projects, leading cross-functional teams and managing risks.
The Epic Aura Project Manager will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of Epic Aura integrations for genomic laboratory initiatives. This role is responsible for driving successful project delivery across multiple stakeholders, including lab operations, middleware, EMR teams, and external partners. The ideal candidate brings proven expertise in EMR implementations and excels in cross-functional leadership, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication. This is a unique opportunity to support a high-complexity lab at the forefront of genomic diagnostics and personalized medicine.

Pay: $80+/hour on W2
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary project lead for Epic Aura implementations, overseeing end-to-end delivery from discovery through post-go-live support.
- Develop, manage, and track detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and resource assignments across technical and clinical teams.
- Facilitate collaboration between Epic build teams (Beaker/Ambulatory), lab workflow leads, middleware engineers, and interface analysts.
- Partner with stakeholders to scope workflows related to test ordering, specimen processing, and genomic result reporting (VCF/VAR data).
- Identify, document, and escalate risks or blockers that may impact delivery; lead resolution plans and mitigation efforts.
- Conduct regular status meetings, stakeholder check-ins, and project governance reviews to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Track and report project KPIs, including timeline adherence, resource utilization, testing status, and issue resolution metrics.
- Coordinate validation events, go-live readiness planning, and hypercare processes to ensure smooth transitions to production.
- Ensure documentation, change control processes, and standard operating procedures are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability within a fast-paced, evolving project landscape.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
- PMP, PMI-ACP, or Epic Project Management certification preferred.
- 5+ years of experience managing EMR or lab integration projects, with a strong preference for Epic Ambulatory and Beaker implementations.
- Familiarity with HL7/FHIR integrations, middleware platforms (Redox, Mirth), and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Proven experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare IT projects on time and within scope.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, especially laboratory and genomic testing operations.
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Jira/Confluence, Zoom, and project scheduling tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar).
