About the Role
Leading at Uber means setting direction in motion, not waiting for perfect conditions. As a Program Leader, you will act as a strategic and organizational partner to senior leadership, driving the high-leverage initiatives that keep our global support engine running. You will build high-performing teams in ambiguous environments, making hard calls under pressure and carrying the weight of decisions that define how we support millions of users across the globe.
As Program Lead, AV Remote Assistance Partner Enablement, you'll own the launch and ongoing evolution of Remote Assistance (RA) across our global portfolio of AV partners—each with their own tooling, workflows, and operational requirements. You'll drive decisions on how the program is built, staffed and run: the infrastructure, the vendor ecosystem, the operating model and the product roadmap that ties them together. This is a high-autonomy, high-ambiguity role for an operator who can launch fast and design for what the program needs to look like with both immediate- and long-term impact.
What You’ll Do
- Stand Up and Lead Global Operations: Launch RA Operations for new AV partners on their own tooling and in their own markets, owning labor, infrastructure and tech readiness and building scalable playbooks.
- Own the Vendor Ecosystem: Run selection, onboarding and lifecycle management for RA staffing and operations partners, set the performance bar and enforce it through SLAs, business reviews, and corrective action and own compliance against contractual and regulatory requirements market by market.
- Drive the Product: Serve as the operations counterpart to the teams developing tooling, driving continuous improvement of the integration layer that connects our systems into AV partner platforms and converting field signals—including workflow friction, failure modes, efficiency drag—into a prioritized roadmap you help design.
- Lead Across the Organization: Align AV partners, internal teams, and vendors with genuinely competing priorities on scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs, manage the risk without heavy oversight, and land status, risk, and decisions cleanly with audiences from frontline vendor ops to executive leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years in program or operations management, including standing up net-new operations or launching new markets
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Direct experience managing vendors or BPO partners—sourcing, contracting, performance management, and compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or another frontier-technology operating environment
- Background in high-tempo, real-time operations—network operations centers, dispatch, live escalations, or similar
- Track record influencing product roadmaps without a formal product title; strong product instincts and a builder's default
- Demonstrated analytical rigor: you use data to diagnose, measure, and make the case for change
- Experience owning both technical/infrastructure and labor/workforce components of an operation at the same time
- Experience building 0 to 1 structure where none exists and a bias toward acting on incomplete information over waiting for clarity
- Willingness to travel globally for partner launches and vendor site visits. Estimate is 25% of the time
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $162,000 per year - USD $180,000 per year.
