DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Membership team, part of GBH’s Development division, enables the GBH Educational Foundation to fulfill its public media mission by raising contributions from individuals for TV, radio, and digital programming, as well as for special projects at GBH, the Cape & Islands Radio Station (CAI), and New England Public Media (NEPM).
Membership oversees direct response fundraising and member engagement, which provide GBH with the resources to pursue its mission. The team collaborates closely with the Contributor Development Partnership (CDP), which supports GBH, CAI, and NEPM members and viewers nationwide.
JOB OVERVIEW
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of TV Pledge Coordination and Premium Development, the Production Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of on-air fundraising productions across television, radio, and digital platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate scheduling, media readiness, and seamless broadcast operations; maintaining production databases and documentation; and coordinating content, logistics, and technical requirements. The Production Assistant collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to support fundraising initiatives, manage content assets, and facilitate member communications, requiring strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills to succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Broadcast & Pledge Production Coordination
- Serve as a point of contact for TV pledge on-air schedules, ensuring alignment of show packages, timing, and interstitials with programming strategy.
- Coordinate with Broadcast Operations and Master Control to confirm accurate scheduling, media receipt, and execution of pledge programming.
- Support Membership program scheduling and ensure accuracy in daily broadcast logs.
- Participate in Broadcast Operations meetings and assist with overall fundraising production execution, including radio pledge and special events.
- Support Radio Pledge efforts as needed
Content & Media Management
- Track, verify, and organize programming and production elements from internal teams and external providers (e.g., PBS, APT).
- Ensure all media assets are received, compliant with technical standards, and delivered appropriately.
- Organize graphic and video elements for producers and editors.
- Maintain familiarity with technical systems to provide basic production and media support.
Database & Information Management
- Maintain and update Broadcast Operations systems (e.g., ProTrack) and internal databases tracking pledge breaks, interstitials, and production elements.
- Manage records for local fundraising productions (e.g., PBs, DVs, ESS history).
- Ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation of production and programming data across systems.
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative and logistical support for pledging production operations, including premium fulfillment, documentation, and coordination of studio/field resources.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate information sharing, member communications, and compliance with production and distribution requirements.
SKILL SET
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaborative and communication skills required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- Minimum of 0 – 2 years media production experience required.
