At Apiture, our mission is to empower financial institutions to know and serve their clients with the care of a traditional community institution at the scale, speed, and efficiency required in today’s digital world. With hundreds of clients throughout the U.S., we deliver comprehensive online and mobile solutions that support banks and credit unions, ranging from small community financial institutions to new, innovative direct banks.
Summary:
Digital account opening is the front door to every institution we serve. Your work will determine how quickly prospective customers convert, how securely we meet KYC / CIP requirements, and how efficiently deposits hit the core. When we execute flawlessly, our clients grow deposits at lower cost—and we win market share.
As Product Owner for Digital Account Opening, you convert strategy into throughput. Partnering with a Product Manager, engineers, and architects, you own day‑to‑day backlog health, feature decomposition, and cross‑product dependencies. You are measured on delivery velocity, functional quality, and customer adoption—not on writing specs for a shelf.
Location (Wilmington, NC, Austin, TX, Remote):
We have offices in Wilmington, NC and Austin, TX and while some positions need to be office based, we will also consider remote candidates in our preferred time zones of CST/EST.
Responsibilities:
- Backlog & Roadmap Execution: Translate product strategy into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; maintain a ruthlessly prioritized backlog.
- System & Integration Design: Lead solution‑design sessions with Architecture and Engineering for scalable integrations (KYC, OFAC, funding, core, card networks).
- Cross‑Product Coordination: Synchronize dependencies with Payments, Digital Banking UX, Platform, and Analytics teams; lead quarterly PI planning or equivalent.
- Throughput Management: Monitor velocity, story aging, WIP limits, burndown, and coverage; own release readiness and demos.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as DAO point of contact for Sales, Implementation, and Customer Success; channel client feedback into actionable stories.
Requirements:
- 3–6 years in a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or similar role delivering SaaS software.
- Hands‑on Agile expertise (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe); able to facilitate sprint ceremonies without a scrum master.
- Moderate technical fluency: can read swagger/OpenAPI specs, discuss REST vs. gRPC trade‑offs, and white‑board data models.
- Demonstrated experience decomposing large features into vertical slices and shipping iteratively.
- Strong business writing and verbal communication; concise, data‑driven decision‑maker.
- Preference for digital banking, fintech, or core/ancillary systems experience (Jack Henry, FIS, Fiserv, Corelation, etc.).
- Familiarity with deposit regulations (Reg D, Reg E, BSA/AML).
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or comparable certification.
- Prior ownership of account‑opening, identity verification, or payments workflow products.
