Description

Skylight is a technology startup based out of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Our mission is to connect loved ones by creating the world’s simplest products and services that improve family life. We make consumer products, like Skylight Frame and Skylight Calendar, that are loved by millions of people across the globe. Our founders are former venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs, who have scaled this business to $180M+ in annual revenue while being completely bootstrapped and profitable. We think often about the thousands of smiles we are able to put on our customers’ faces each day, and it fills our hearts with purpose. That’s why we have been working hard to expand our team and invent, so that we can continue to bring the magic of Skylight to millions of loved ones throughout the world.

What You’ll Own

You’ll be the single head to crown on product marketing within Skylight. This means you will drive awareness & adoption of existing features and ensure that new releases are impactful.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft the narrative—shape how we position our products & features so that customers “get it” emotionally and instantly.
  • Own the roadmap—lay out the plan, actions and requirements to drive awareness, adoption and impact.
  • Run go-to-market for major feature launches—building the brief, defining the success metrics and ensuring it all happens.
  • Do customer discovery—learn what resonates and create messaging that lands.

This role is not for everyone. You will thrive here if you:

  • Have great instincts for customer emotion and buying behavior
  • Can find the 1-2 things that will really make a difference for any given goal.
  • Feel comfortable in ambiguity. You don’t need a roadmap handed to you—you’ll make one.
  • Can both execute while designing repeatable processes that work in practice.
  • Write clearly, simply, and with heart. You don’t hide behind fluff or jargon.
  • Care deeply. You show up with curiosity, vulnerability, and good intent.
Requirements
  • 2–5 years of experience in product marketing, brand strategy, or growth marketing.
  • Experience at a fast-moving tech or direct-to-consumer company.
  • Demonstrated ability to own a major product launch or brand positioning shift end-to-end.
  • Excellent writing skills. You have written strategic briefs, generated mockups and can boil things down.
  • Experience running qualitative research and turning it into strategy.
  • Strong analytical thinking—you’re comfortable using data to frame decisions.

Bonus (but not required)

  • Experience marketing physical or hybrid hardware/software products.
  • Product development experience—working with product managers, engineers, designers and creative.
Benefits

Our competitive compensation package includes:

  • Competitive Salary + Equity Package
  • 401K matching
  • Wellness, learning, and home-office budgets
  • Health, Dental & Vision Medical Plans
  • Tremendous autonomy to set the direction of your work
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Company holidays on the first Friday of every month (Except November & December)

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
