The Product Marketing Manager will lead GTM strategies and marketing initiatives for emerging assessment products, collaborating with various teams to enhance product adoption and customer satisfaction.
It’s an exciting time to join us! Over the last 12+ years, Ellevation Education has built a thriving, mission-based EdTech business serving the administrators, teachers, and specialists who support English Learners across the US. As part of the Curriculum Associates family since Fall 2021, we have even more opportunities to scale the business and are looking for a key team member to be part of our innovative and evolving organization. Ellevation has also been recognized as a 2024 Boston Globe Best Place to Work and 2025 BuiltIn Best Place to Work for medium size companies.
The Product Marketing Manager is an integral part of Ellevation’s Go-To-Market (GTM) and Product rhythms, working closely with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and other functional teams to drive and support all aspects of GTM. This team member must be extremely collaborative, building trust quickly and bringing a clear point of view - and the voice of the customer - to the work. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with great people and have a meaningful impact on the lives of striving students and their educators.
This role will specifically focus on Ellevation’s emerging product initiatives within the student-facing assessment space and support GTM efforts early on in the product development lifecycle all the way through to commercial availability for a new assessment product.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across commercial and R&D teams to inform product vision, define positioning and coordinate GTM strategy from early in the development cycle through to launch
- Lead messaging development for Ellevation’s emerging assessment product, and lead the communication and activities required to build knowledge of new-to-market initiatives
- Develop marketing campaigns and programs to build awareness and adoption of new and existing features across Ellevation’s products
- Ensure that Sales and Customer Success teams are fully prepared to sell to and support educational partners, including development and presentation of enablement materials and training programs.
- Shape the market <> product feedback process for Ellevation’s assessment product, acting as a key partner to both R&D and commercial teams
Within 1 month, you will:
- Learn about our core products, understand the key value propositions and differentiating characteristics of each, as well as their respective near-term release plans
- Build understanding of Ellevation’s approach to our emerging assessment offering and meet with key R&D partners to build knowledge of our product strategies
- Build relationships with key business partners, laying a foundation for your work together
- Observe customer-facing engagements and presentations and start to understand the voice of the customer
- Start to support the Director of Product Marketing and functional teams as needed
Within 3 months, you will:
- Establish yourself as the lead and go-to person on your respective product
- Regularly collaborate with functional team members (Product Management, Customer Success, and Sales) on new GTM activities and processes
- Develop positioning and marketing resources to support product vision and strategy for emerging offerings
- Begin to manage partner and internal stakeholder communications independently
Within 6 months, you will:
- Actively collaborate and lead conversations with Product Management, Sales, and Customer Success in representing the voice of the customer, translating customer feedback into actionable insights, implementing new enablement programs, and helping prioritize R&D decisions
- Be deeply immersed in standing up programs/resources to support product adoption and customer satisfaction
Within 12 months, you will:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the wants and needs of our various user personas and how our product is used to improve their lives (district admins, EL specialists, classroom teachers, students)
- Bring a strong Product Marketing point of view and voice of the customer to all next steps in product development and positioning
About you:
- Experience - 5+ years of marketing, product marketing, or product management experience, ideally in a senior capacity (Note: This role will not initially have a people management responsibility)
- Comfortable with Complexity - Experience managing projects from very early or nascent launch cycles in fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders
- Strategic & Customer Focused - you’re in tune with the voice of the customer and always let the goals drive your strategy, activities, and deliverables. You market solutions, not features.
- A Team Player - with a point of view - you collaborate well and have informed, open-minded discourse with colleagues to develop innovative solutions to challenges and opportunities
- Skilled Communicator - you are skilled at synthesizing customer and internal insights and communicating cross-functionally to inform decision-making. You are comfortable presenting in front of a range of internal and external audiences
- Comfortable with Data - possess data analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities and develop segmented operational strategies
- Open to Feedback - you value constructive feedback and see it as a way to improve yours/your team’s work
- 2+ years of experience working with EdTEch and/or SaaS products
- An interest in K12 education policy and/or effective local and state government
A plus if you have:
Travel Expectations:
- Remote employees for this role will be expected to travel about 10 times per year (for visits to the Boston office, company-sponsored off sites, and customer visits).
