We're looking for...
An experienced Product Manager to help Ekotrope discover, analyze, evaluate, and capture new business and product opportunities that maintain our market share, grow our premium offerings to our core clients, and drive growth in the number of homes that utilize Ekotrope RATER.
This candidate should have both external (customer-facing) and internal (dev-team facing) product management experience. The candidate must also have the experience and excitement to operate and innovate in an unstructured environment, build customer relationships, and identify new opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Identify, explore, evaluate, and oversee the development of new business/product opportunities for our core RATER market. This involves working with customers (ranging from Builders, Rating Organizations, and Utilities) to understand their needs, analyzing pricing and market sizes, and collaboratively building actionable tasks/tickets with the development team.
- Define, scope, and oversee the discovery process and creation of MVPs
- Nurture early adopter users of new products and features to bring MVPs to robust, mature products.
- Enable the sales team to sell new products by helping them understand the customer needs and how the products solve those needs.
- Grow the number of homes that utilize Ekotrope RATER for HERS Ratings and/or Energy Code compliance
- Enable revenue growth with new products and/or features.
- Maintain our stellar customer satisfaction across our core products
- Support our RATER, Utility, and Builder offerings through supporting CSMs complete interviews, handle feedback, and prioritize feedback
- Provide support in managing Core, Growth, Energy backlogs by reviewing ideas/tickets, writing thorough descriptions, and gathering feedback on priorities
Must-Have Requirements:
- Alignment with our Mission, Vision, and Values ( here )
- Experience working directly with customers.
- Experience operating in a startup environment or similar unstructured environment requiring innovation, organization, and self-motivation.
Soft Requirements (must have at least 2 of the following):
- At least 2-4 years of professional product management experience
- Knowledge / Ability to learn the Home Energy Rating and home construction topics process
- Experience working with software development teams to turn customer use-cases into actionable development tickets.
- Experience leading a "discovery process," i.e. exploring client needs, building and testing assumptions, and iterating to find product market fit.
The candidate will be expected to:
- Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Be highly organized and accountable, able to manage their tasks given high-level directives.
- Foster relationships with customers through formal and informal communication channels
- Work closely with developers and customers to bring useful, beautiful and powerful products to the market
- Consider tradeoffs between complexity and value
- Connect deeply with our customers and industry to internalize the perspective of our users
- Always be learning. Internally and externally
Compensation
Combination of Salary and Stock Options commensurate with skills and experience.
Work Hours
While there is some flexibility, our expectation is that you would work about 40 hours per week and roughly match our Monday-Friday 9-5 Eastern Time working hours, especially our morning Scrum meetings at 9:45am ET.
Location
We have a hybrid environment where team members can work remotely or in our office in downtown Boston (19 Kingston St). We are currently accepting candidates that live in the states of MA, ME VA, or D.C. If you are outside these states you may still apply, as our list may change in the future.
About Us
We run the most widely used Home Energy Rating Software which is used on about 1 in 4 of new homes built in the US each year. Our clients for this product are home energy raters who work with home builders to help design more energy efficient homes and then inspect and certify those homes. We also help utilities run their energy efficiency programs more effectively and are actively exploring new areas where we can grow our impact and business.
