About Supabase

Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.
About the Role

We're hiring a Product Manager for Supabase Realtime. You'll own the surface area developers use to build live, collaborative and event-driven apps on Supabase: Broadcast, Presence, Postgres Changes, and the capabilities we build next.

You'll work closely with the Realtime Engineering team and with partners across Product Management, Design and GTM.

This role is ideal for someone who's excited about building tools for millions of developers and who has a passion for the types of user experiences unlocked by simple, scalable real-time channels. You should have a nuanced understanding of full-stack application development, including existing and emerging real-time and sync patterns.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • You'll collaborate with customers of all sizes and expertise levels: from an indie developer adding live updates to a side project, to startups building collaborative SaaS, to enterprise teams streaming live data to dashboards.

  • You'll own the problem statements and solution rationale behind the Realtime roadmap. This means working with Engineering and Design to shape how Supabase crafts the developer experience for the problems you’ve prioritized solving.

  • You'll shape how Realtime evolves to enable future application experiences, including its role in AI apps and alongside other Supabase products.

  • You'll own Realtime packaging and pricing, working with Pricing, Finance and Billing.

  • You'll use data to understand how Supabase developers are using Realtime features: where they succeed, where they get stuck, and what to tackle first.

  • You'll keep Engineering, Design and GTM aligned. You'll own the plan of record for what's coming, why, and in what order.

You Might Be a Good Fit If YouMust have
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience on developer tools, or are an ex-founder with equivalent depth. You're comfortable commenting on an architecture doc, following a design discussion, and advocating for the user when trade-offs are required.

  • Have owned an app development platform, feature or framework where real-time was core to the developer experience.

  • Get your own answers from data. You know what you care about in terms of product instrumentation and are comfortable querying and cleaning your own findings.

  • Are comfortable with Postgres and familiar with logical replication.

  • Work async by default. Supabase is fully remote. You make decisions in writing and move work forward without meetings.

Strong signal
  • You have an existing audience among developers, through social media, open source or developer advocacy.

  • Worked on a sync engine, local-first or live-query product.

  • Worked with gaming, AR or collaborative-tool customers.

  • Shipped something using Supabase.

What We Offer
  • Fully Remote

We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world.

  • ESOP

Every team member receives ESOP (equity ownership) in the company. We want everyone to share in the upside of what we’re building together.

  • Tech Allowance

Use this budget to set up your ideal work environment—laptop, monitor, headphones, or whatever helps you do your best work.

  • Health Benefits

Supabase covers 100% of health insurance for employees and 80% for dependents, wherever you are. Your wellbeing and your family’s health are important to us.

  • Annual Off-Sites

Once a year, the entire company gathers in a new city for a week of connection, collaboration, and fun. It’s a highlight of our year.

  • Flexible Work

We operate asynchronously and trust you to manage your own time. You know what needs to be done and when.

  • Professional Development

Every team member receives an annual education allowance to spend on learning—courses, books, conferences, or anything that supports your growth.

About the Team

Supabase was born-remote and open-source-first. We believe our globally distributed team is our secret weapon in building tools developers love.

  • ~400 team members

  • 60+ countries

  • 20+ languages spoken

  • Over $1B raised (including our $500M Series F)

  • 540,000+ community members

We move fast, build in public, and use what we ship. If it’s in your project, we probably use it in ours too. We believe deeply in the open-source ecosystem and strive to support—not replace—existing tools and communities.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
