ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Product Manager II (Cost Basis & Tax) will drive the development and success of enterprise SaaS tax products that enable our fintech partners to deliver seamless tax experiences to their customers. This role combines strategic product thinking with hands-on execution, requiring someone who can translate complex tax workflows and regulations into elegant product solutions in alignment with the company’s vision and goals.
You'll own key aspects of our tax product roadmap, including execution and delivery, while closely supporting and collaborating with the Group Product Manager, Apex Tax to deliver value across our B2B clients, their end-customers, and internal operations teams. You will work across the full spectrum of product management responsibilities from breaking down technical requirements with engineers, to collaborating with design on high-value functionality, to representing Apex Tax in client and prospect conversations, and ensuring successful delivery. This role reports directly to the Product Leader of Apex Cost Basis and Tax.
Duties/Responsibilities
Partner with the product management team members to define and execute tax product roadmap aligned with business objectives, market needs, regulatory/compliance requirements, and user needs.
Partner with Product Marketing on research, market analysis, and roadmap & marketing communications
Drive data-informed prioritization decisions using ROI analysis and customer insights
Develop and track measurable objectives with clear scorecards to measure product success
Write clear user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria that cross-functional teams can effectively execute to deliver high-quality solutions.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive workflows for operations teams and client-facing interfaces
Collaborate with engineering teams to define technical architecture requirements for scalable tax solutions
Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, marketing, sales, finance, and compliance to ensure alignment and seamless delivery
Lead client, prospect, and internal user meetings to demonstrate product capabilities and gather strategic feedback
Represent Apex in industry discussions and conferences, building credibility in the tax technology space
Translate client requirements into actionable SaaS product features
Maintain organized Jira backlogs and comprehensive Confluence documentation
Ensure timely, high-quality delivery across all initiatives using Agile methodologies
Present progress and strategy to leadership with confidence and clarity
Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and decision-making in product development workflows
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent work experience) required
3+ years of product management experience, preferably in fintech, tax technology, or wealth management
Strong understanding of tax information reporting and wealth platforms
Proven track record of translating complex technical requirements into successful product deliverables
Experience in building and managing high-performing products within agile development frameworks
Experience with Agile frameworks, Jira, and Confluence
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong analytical thinking with ability to use data for prioritization and outcome measurement
Understanding of UX principles, web development, and API standards
AI-motivated and experienced
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams in an agile environment.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment while making risk-aware decisions with incomplete information
Experience presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail
Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at leading teams through complex challenges
Passionate about delivering incremental value and following best practices
Work Environment
This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.

Salary Range
$112,000-$140,000The annual base salary range for this position is noted above. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and office location.
