The Company

Marigold is a fast-growing marketing technology company helping growing businesses build stronger customer relationships through its three core platforms: Emma, Campaign Monitor, and Vuture. We deliver powerful tools for email, SMS, and marketing automation that elevate engagement and drive real results. Marigold is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with offices in Sydney and London.

The Role

Campaign Monitor, part of Marigold, is a self-serve email marketing platform used by thousands of businesses to build, send, and measure campaigns. We’re looking for a Product Manager, Growth Strategy to shape how marketers move from signup to paid customer and to bring an outside-in view of the market into our product decisions.

You’ll identify the early behaviors that signal long-term customer success, uncover where the journey loses people, and turn those findings into a shared growth strategy. You’ll partner with Australia-based product managers and their engineering teams, as well as Marketing, Design, Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success. This role has a direct line to product leadership and an opportunity to influence where we invest next.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the end-to-end self-serve conversion picture. Analyze signup, onboarding, activation, trial, and paid conversion; identify the actions, sequence, and timing that distinguish successful customers; and define shared activation and conversion measures.
  • Turn product behavior into action. Build funnel, cohort, retention, segmentation, and pathing analyses; translate findings into prioritized recommendations with product and go-to-market partners; and measure outcomes after changes launch.
  • Assess the competitive landscape. Use alternative products firsthand to compare acquisition, onboarding, activation, pricing, packaging, and monetization, and identify category trends, useful patterns, and areas of competitive advantage.
  • Build and maintain a self-serve market opportunity model, including addressable segment size, Campaign Monitor’s current position, realistic growth opportunities, transparent assumptions, and sensitivities.
  • Keep leaders informed on material changes in the email service provider (ESP) category, including deliverability and authentication, AI-driven products, and pricing and packaging. Bring evidence to decisions about plans, paywalls, and upgrade paths.
  • Be a trusted interpreter of product metrics and an effective partner across teams and time zones. Explain what the data supports, where it has limits, and what actions it suggests while equipping colleagues in Australia with clear insight and context.

About You

You enjoy connecting customer behavior and market evidence to product decisions. You can move from hands-on analysis to a clear recommendation, build trust across functions, and follow through to see what changed.

Ideal Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product management experience, including meaningful ownership of or influence on signup, onboarding, activation, trial conversion, or monetization in a product-led, self-serve business.
  • Hands-on product analytics experience, with Amplitude strongly preferred. You can independently build and interpret funnels, cohorts, retention, segmentation, and user paths, and recognize when data cannot answer a question.
  • Strong quantitative modeling and market-sizing skills, with the ability to make assumptions and limitations clear. You routinely explore competitors’ products and business models and draw practical implications from category changes.
  • A record of influencing without direct authority. You can communicate complex findings clearly to senior stakeholders, defend a reasoned recommendation, and build productive relationships across Product, Marketing, Design, Sales, and Customer Success.
  • A self-directed approach to broadly defined goals, with ownership from discovery through measured outcomes. You can collaborate regularly with colleagues in Australia during AEST/AEDT working-hour overlap.
  • Practical fluency with AI tools for research and synthesis, paired with sound judgment about their reliability and limitations.

Nice to Have
  • Experience in email marketing, marketing automation, martech, or the ESP category, especially serving SMB or low-touch customers.
  • Experience launching pricing or packaging changes in a self-serve product.
  • Experience working in a globally distributed product organization.

Location Eligibility

This position is eligible for hire in the following US states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
