At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
The Team
The Product Merchandising organization connects members to our world of entertainment by creating a Netflix experience that is engaging, relevant, and truly delightful for everyone, everywhere. Blending intuitive discovery and local expertise, the team positions, promotes, and presents content so members find it easy and enjoyable to choose what they'll love.
Within this organization, the Content Experience Innovation (CEI) team of Product Managers is leading the strategy to shape how Netflix members discover and engage with emerging content. This includes areas like Games discovery, Live & Sports streaming events, Podcasts, and much more. Our work spans all platforms (TV/living room, mobile, tablet, and web), and includes features and experiences across discovery/browse, player, profiles, and new surfaces.
The Role
We're hiring a Product Manager, Emerging Formats to join the CEI team. You'll lead the evolution of discovery and engagement experiences for emerging content types as Netflix's offering grows.
You'll set the vision and shape discovery experiences, partnering with cross-functional teams on features and capabilities that delight members. You'll turn those concepts into a well-scoped roadmap, prioritize among competing efforts, and help the team deliver its best work.
As Netflix expands beyond film and series, you'll work across the PM community so the member experience for new formats fits into the bigger picture, alongside Live, Games, Podcasts and more.
You'll sit at the intersection of Product, Tech, Content, and Production, and act as the connective tissue that keeps our product surface in step with our content strategy. Your mission is to define the product strategy, member needs, roadmap, and experimentation approach that let diverse content types thrive on one unified platform. You'll bring curiosity and a collaborative approach to translating Emerging Formats and CEI goals into product strategy.
You'll thrive at the hub of a fast-moving environment, working daily with experts across the tech and entertainment sides of the business and balancing requirements and tradeoffs along the way. You're passionate about building alignment, and you can keep momentum and move forward amid ambiguity, even when full consensus isn't possible.
What You'll Do
As Product Manager, Emerging Formats, you'll be the strategic lead for emerging content types on Netflix:
- Work through open-ended problems and identify opportunities to evolve existing experiences or define new discovery, capability, or feature requirements
- Build a roadmap and take product concepts from idea through validation, shipping, measurement, and iteration
- Author strategy memos and presentations that represent your team's work, so the broader organization understands the Emerging Formats product strategy and roadmap
- Proactively seek diverse viewpoints to keep our focus on the most strategic and impactful work in Emerging Formats
- Influence and align a team of talented colleagues across design, engineering, consumer insights, merchandising, and data science to deliver outstanding products
- Build business cases and measure the impact of your product innovation with your data science partners
- Deeply understand and socialize the evolving needs of our members with your consumer insights and design partners
What You'll Bring
As Product Manager, Emerging Formats, you're passionate about the work and bring:
- 7+ years of experience developing consumer products and features, and comfort operating with complex tradeoffs
- Experience owning the product development lifecycle end to end, from inception through planning to launch
- Demonstrated leadership of a space, working effectively across organizations to drive alignment
- Experience with A/B testing and strong business acumen, including identifying, tracking, and acting on metrics, designing tests, and collaborating with data science partners
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to connect the smallest experience elements to company and team goals
- Data-informed judgment, and the ability to use data to tell the right story, not the other way around
- A balance of collaboration and openness to alternative views with clear, timely decision-making and communication of vision
- An eagerness to seek feedback and improve
Nice to have:
- Experience with film, tv, audio, podcasts or other streaming media products at scale, and an understanding of the content lifecycle
