Job Summary
The Product Manager, Careers sets product direction for Infobase’s careers and career and technical education (CTE) offerings, with the goal of significantly expanding sales in middle school, high school, community college, and public library markets. The role focuses on four areas: a careers strategy built around Advance CTE pathways and career development (guidance and assessment) at the middle school, high school, and university levels; an expanded CTE emphasis within that strategy; an assessment partnership that enables quick expansion; and modern product workflows that help the product grow across these markets. This senior individual-contributor role combines product management with content management for the careers and CTE portfolio, working in close partnership with the Vault leadership team, content teams, platform leadership, and Infobase’s enterprise-level engineering team, and building alignment through collaboration and influence rather than formal authority. The Product Manager, Careers owns the vision and roadmap for this area on an ongoing basis and may be assigned other product initiatives based on organizational needs and the publishing and release cycle of the careers product line.
Essential Functions
- Define product vision and strategy for careers and CTE offerings across middle school, high school, community college, and public library markets, grounded in customer-centric design, market analysis, competitive dynamics, revenue analysis, and customer research.
- Own and prioritize the roadmap, including technology and content, making the tradeoffs needed to balance customer value, business priorities, and delivery capacity.
- Shape an expanded CTE emphasis within the careers strategy, aligned to Advance CTE pathways and to workforce-relevant outcomes at the high school and community college levels.
- Build the business case for significant product investments and partnerships, including tradeoffs, revenue impact, and expected results, and present recommendations to product and executive leadership.
- Identify assessment and video partnership opportunities, outline deal points, and serve as the frontline contact for those partners.
- Own a potential assessment partnership, including integration requirements, delivery sequencing for quick expansion, and tracking of partnership outcomes.
- Define how assessment results connect to careers content and learning assets, including careers videos and career guides, so users move from assessment to exploration to planning.
- Shape career development experiences (guidance and assessment) for middle school, high school, and university learners.
- Manage the careers and CTE content portfolio, including careers videos and career guides, setting priorities for what is created, updated, acquired, or retired.
- Identify content gaps against Advance CTE pathways, workforce-relevant outcomes at the high school and community college levels, and the needs of a partner assessment.
- Work with editors and external content partners to plan, commission, and review content, holding it to standards for accuracy, quality, and alignment to pathways.
- Manage content creation through external vendors, as advised by Franchise Owners and supported by limited staff time where available.
- Maintain a content plan and update cycle so careers and CTE content stays current as pathways, labor-market information, and customer needs change.
- Ensure content is structured and tagged so assessment results can connect users to the right videos and guides.
- Lead voice-of-customer practices, including direct research, usage data analysis, customer feedback loops, and pilots, to keep decisions grounded in evidence.
- Distinguish between buyers and users across school, community college, and library settings (for example, librarians, counselors, CTE educators, and students) when designing products that win sales and increase classroom usage.
- Track competitive and market developments in careers, CTE, and related assessments, and translate them into roadmap implications.
- Design modern, customer-centric product workflows that help the product significantly expand sales in middle school, high school, community college, and public library markets within the constraints of an enterprise-level platform.
- Coordinate go-to-market readiness with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success, and track results after launch.
- Define and report on KPIs and business outcomes on a regular cadence to product and executive stakeholders.
- Serve as the liaison with platform, engineering, Vault, and customer-facing teams, aligning future product direction with content strategy and platform capabilities and consulting with content teams at key points in development.
- Partner with platform leadership on the definition and requirements of new products and significant revisions to existing products.
- Work with Infobase’s enterprise-level engineering team to sequence delivery and keep the roadmap realistic against shared engineering capacity.
- Write clear product requirements and maintain a prioritized backlog for engineering, resolving tradeoffs as delivery progresses.
- Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders without formal authority, including when priorities conflict.
- Share domain expertise and product practice with other Product Managers and with Franchise Owners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
