The Product Engineer will collaborate on building and improving a platform for fractional investment properties, focusing on user experience and feature development.
The summary above was generated by AI

Fractional is a social platform for fractional ownership of investment properties. We’re on a mission to open the private real estate market to everyone by making it inclusive, educational, collaborative, and fun.

Current options for real estate investment are limited and expensive. Many people lack the cash but know how to DIY, or have sufficient capital but are stuck with the high fees and limited opportunity that funds offer. We believe that with the right tools, guidance, and community, anyone can choose to own, invest, and grow real assets in the way they want.

We're well funded with backing from CRV, Y Combinator, Will Smith, Kevin Durant, Unusual Ventures, among others such as founders and leaders of Affirm, Compass, Blend, and Sprout Social. We bring prior experience in fintech, real estate, and SEC regulations.

Democratizing residential real estate is just the start. We’d love to have you join us to build the future of investing.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and the rest of engineering to turn feature and product specs into reality. Example projects include:

    • Building our buy-sell-trade marketplace for fractional investments

    • Creating delightful social and collaboration features to foster community on the Fractional platform

    • Designing platforms and experiences to automate back-office transactional, regulatory, and compliance work for our new real estate investors

  • Influence the features and direction of the platform with your own ideas and proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes

What we look for

  • Prior experience building, launching, and maintaining consumer products at scale

  • Sense for small details and shaping beautiful user experiences

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders, such as design and sales

  • Grit and adaptability to thrive with an early-stage team and navigate the unknown

  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication

  • Passion about Fractional's mission, empathizing with our users and how they'll interact our products

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership (ideally with prior experience at a startup)

  • Knowledge of React, Typescript, Postgres, and/or GraphQL

We are a remote-friendly team with a growing in-person hub in New York. Preference will be given to candidates who can help build our NYC engineering hub on a hybrid basis.

What we offer

  • Health benefits Full healthcare benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance - for you and your dependents.

  • Time off We encourage you to take advantage of our unlimited vacation policy.

  • Team events Regular off-sites and retreats throughout the year.

  • Tools A laptop, monitor and any equipment you might need to do your best work.

As a team dedicated to breaking down traditional investment barriers, we at Fractional are committed to maintaining a diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment. We will not tolerate discrimination in employment and employment-related decisions, or in business dealings on the basis of race, color, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, disability, ethnicity, national origin, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, or any other legally protected status.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
