Position Overview

As the Product Director – Post Pay (Out of Network) at Zelis, you will be the driving force behind the strategic vision and execution of our Out of Network Post Pay product line. This senior role involves defining long-term strategy, developing and maintaining a multi-year roadmap, and translating these strategies into impactful tactical plans. You will lead cross-functional teams (engineering, analytics, compliance, operations, sales) with high autonomy and often indirectly hire or mentor team members. Your work ensures scalable, complaint, and reliable product delivery aligned with Zelis’s Price Division growth goals.

What you'll do:

Strategy & Roadmap

  • Create and maintain the Post Pay Out of Network roadmap (1–3 year tactical, 3–6 months impact) aligned with departmental and company goals.

  • Champion integration of market research, customer insights, and internal feedback.

  • Co-develop departmental strategy, directly influencing the direction and success of the Out of Network Post Pay team.

  • Manage the Post Pay Product budget, develop business cases for executive approval, and include 3-year CAP/OPX costs, incremental KPIs, market value, and ROI.

  • Exercise a high degree of autonomy in decision-making under indirect supervision, with accountability for both strategic direction and tactical execution.

Execution & Delivery

  • Lead complex initiatives with long-range planning horizons and measurable business outcomes.

  • Oversee the full product lifecycle—from ideation to launch, continuous iteration, and post-production improvement.

  • Manage dependencies, timing, resourcing, budgeting, and KPI tracking.

  • Ensure teams complete deliverables that drive revenue, compliance, and market leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, analytics, operations, compliance, sales, and client-facing teams.

  • Translate complex concepts into clear, effective communication for both senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead complex issue analysis, identify novel product opportunities, and propel iterative enhancement based on testing and feedback loops.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to prioritize customer needs in our product roadmaps.

Governance & Compliance

  • Serve as domain expert for the OON product.

  • Ensure adherence to privacy, regulatory, and security standards, in partnership with our Legal and Compliance teams.

  • Support sales and client teams with authoritative product guidance.

Mentorship & People

  • Provide leadership and development support to project teams.

  • Guide hiring discussions and contribute to shaping a high-performing product culture.

What you'll bring to Zelis:

  • Bachelor’s degree (business, healthcare, technology) or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of product management experience.

  • Expertise in healthcare with compliance/regulatory knowledge.

  • Proven track record managing complex product roadmaps, balancing strategic and tactical objectives in a high-growth environment.

  • Excellent analytical skills: financial modeling, data-driven decision-making, KPI monitoring, and performance analysis.

  • Experience with Agile product development and the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence).

  • Exceptional communicator with frequent interaction at senior leadership and client levels.

  • Strong negotiation, planning, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action.

  • Hands-on leader with collaborative influence across matrixed teams.

  • Scrum certification (CSPO/A-CSPO) preferred.

  • Pragmatic Marketing certificate preferred.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
