About Tribe

Tribe is where you can find delightful human group chats around shared interests.

We’re building a new kind of group chat platform that helps people connect through shared passions, real identities, and exciting subcultures. We are focused on bringing each human closer to their interests as well as other humans who share them.

If you’ve ever wished group chats felt less chaotic and more meaningful, you’ll understand why Tribe exists.

Co-founded by Rajat Suri, who also co-founded Lyft and Presto.

The Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer who can turn ideas about human connection into interfaces that feel alive and emotionally resonant.

You’ll own the graphic and interaction design of various features of the product and help define how people experience community in a digital world.

What You’ll Do

Design Tribe’s mobile and web experiences — from blank canvas to shipped product.

Bring empathy, humor, and simplicity to complex interactions (chat, discovery, profiles, creation tools, etc.).

Craft user journeys that make people feel at home — not lost.

Build our evolving design system and visual language.

Collaborate tightly with product and engineering to ship fast and beautifully.

Prototype bold ideas that push what group chat can be.

Think beyond pixels: influence product direction, tone, and the heartbeat of community.

Who You Are

You’ve shipped real consumer products — ideally social, messaging, or community-driven.

You’re fluent in Figma and can prototype like a wizard.

You think in systems but design for feelings.

You care about the why behind every tap.

You crave autonomy, velocity, and creative partnership.

You’d rather experiment and iterate than debate hypotheticals.

Bonus: you love anthropology, psychology, or memes.

Why You’ll Love It Here

You’ll be part of a small, design-driven team shaping a product from the ground up.

Direct collaboration with the foundesr (product-obsessed builders).

Freedom to dream big — and see your ideas live in production fast.

Flexible hours, remote-friendly, and high-trust culture.

You’ll get to design a product that helps people feel less alone.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
